Great, Scando, many many thanks for that link. I am going to re-read the book as well very soon. Laid hands on a copy today!

Klompen,I thought it was one of the most boring films I have ever seen. So much hype for so little content.
But friends of mine raved over it and one of them even saw it twice.

Give me a Herzog film instead, any day.
"Rockstar" was very good I thought Aarosh with great music...I actually thought "Delhi Belly" was better though, "Rockstar" was overly long I thought and they seemed to struggle to finish the movie well..." Delhi Belly was refeshing a bit like "Being Cyrus" something dark and different.
Not gotten around to Sholay YET!
I had a quick look at "Our Daily Bread" too but another day perhaps looks too bleak and depressing though all true of course.

When you say Sholay, do you mean G. P. Sippy's movie?G. P. Sippy's 'Sholay' (1975) is a pla·gia·rized version of Hollywood's The Magnificent Seven (1960). Sholay removed Seven and made it with just 2 fellows + songs.

The Magnificent Seven itself is a remake of the classic 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai (七人の侍 – Shichinin no Samurai) starring Takashi Shimura and Toshirō Mifune.
The best of all three is the incredible Japanese original: Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. It is one of the greatest and most influential films ever made. Simply incredible!

Yes RWE I was talking about G P Sippy's Sholay. I have seen all the 3 movies. Personally I liked Sholay over the other two, since that was the first movie that I saw, followed by Seven Samurai and Magnificient Seven.
Sholay was the first Bollywood movie who released audio cassettes of its dialogues and its sales surpassed the sales of its songs audio cassettes. All the characters in this movie who have played a role of more than 5 minutes are etched in the memory of all the viewers (Soorma Bhopali, Jailor, Hariram Nai, Rahim Chacha, Ahmed, Mausi, Kalia, Samba etc).

Recently i saw a movie called "The Rum Dairy ". both Jhony Depp and Giovanni Ribsi gave excellent performances.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376136/
I saw a Hindi movie recently called ''Peepli(Live)'' and liked it.Its not very new film but worth watching.

Did you have a chance to look at that link?Watched a great Russian film, The Cranes Are Flying, 1957(?) and another Russian War movie, The Ascent, 1977. Love those Russian films.
For lighter fare: Hitchcock's 'Rear Window', with Jimmy Stuart and Grace Kelly. Fun.

It's hilarious, especially once the 'Laden' character is introduced. Loved the movie.

Scando,
I have looked at your link a couple of times. There is a lot of material there! Food for thought (which belongs in the Enlightenment thread most probably).

Currently I am watching "The Trip" starring Peter Fonda, which attempts to show what someone 'sees' whilst tripping on LSD. Interesting, especially if you have never done it. Also starring a youthful Bruce Dern and an even more youthful Dennis Hopper.
Not to be confused with "The Trip" by Michael Winterbottom starring Steve Coogan, which has to be one of the most hilarious films ever! (Highly recommended.

Delhi Belly is indeed a very good film. Poorna Jaganathan gave an amazing performance. Rockstar was terrible - which i suppose has to do with the fact the Ranbir cant act and he had good company in Fakhri who cant act two times over. I watched Friday night lights couple nights ago. more than being a film about college football, it is an excellent portrayal of small town america (places that i only passed through, never had a chance to spend much time in) and the hope that an entire town has on the winning of their football team. Well worth a watch and recommended.

I found the link to be interesting reading, especially the stories from his life, the characters involved, and, the 'coincidences', which go and on and on. Just as en exercise on a literary level, the way this is all drawn up and laid out is unique and intellectually stimulating. After all, reading should be intellectually stimulating, no? The part concerning 'The Razor's Edge', will always be shrouded in mystery. If his story is true, it's a great one. It's always interesting to see how the aging process unfolds in these high profile celebrities.
Have you had a chance to watch Cafe de Flore? I think you will like it. It challenges on many levels.
Recently, I revisited La Grande Illusion, by Renoir. Jean Gabin and Erich Von Stroheim are 2 very strong screen presences. I can't say I would rate this film as highly as so many film critics do. It is certainly a good film and the restoration of it has been done very well.
