That is interesting -- like I'd said elsewhere, I wasn't too sure of what he's doing these days.
But is it for past or present achievements?

"The prize may serve to crown a lifetime's achievement or to direct attention to an important body of work that is still developing. "
Taken from the prize website. I am thinking (and hoping!) that it is a gentle nudge for him to get busy! I'm listening to A Fine Balance on audiobook now, read it years ago but knew that hearing it would be quite different for me mainly for the accents and pronunciation, and the narrator, John Lee, is EXCELLENT!
I made the mistake of "lending" his story collection Swimming Lessons to a friend...FIVE years ago. LOL Just received it from Amazon again the other day and will probably read a few stories tonight! For those of you who enjoy reading literary criticism, there is also a brilliant study of his work by Peter Morey.
Mistry seems to be one of those authors who takes his time with a work and when he finally delivers, he DELIVERS. So I am willing to practice some of that oft-advised Indian patience here.

I read this in the G&M a few months back and thought Mistry fans might it enjoy it - at the very least to know that he is still alive and well.
