Liquid Crystal Vision
Did anyone see a movie/documentary etc called "Liquid Crystal Vision".
It looks really interesting and out there (way out!)
I have not seen it yet... But from the looks of it it takes off in to the psychadelic party philosophys of Goa trance and it looks to be verry ehm, Psychadelic to say the least with footage of Goa trance Partys Full On style...
Goa Gill and so forth...
Any one seen it?
Liked it?

Liquid Crystal Vision
Great movie...I've seen it several times...also was an active part in the San Francisco Goa/Psytrance community.
For anyone interested in the community and it's intentions, this movie is a must see. It's sooo interesting and beautiful.
Fully recommend it.

Would anyone care to give me an idea of what the 'philosophy' is exactly? Never quite got that bit..

I've tried this link a number of times but nothing ever comes up. There is nothing to view.Excuse my ignorance, but is trance dance basically people getting loaded and dancing around?
No offense, but what's the big deal? I mean, back in the day in the early '70s my crowd did a lot of getting stoned and hanging out and dancing around half nekked and partying and eating 'shrooms and peyote but no one ever made a movie about us...

That opinion, that trance dance is nothing but a bunch of stoned people...is the reason for the movie. The shamanic trance experience being lost to a more 'civilized society' is exactly why the movie was created. The link works, I'm sorry you can't see it. http://www.liquidcrystalvision.com
Here's a statment from the filmmakers:
Liquid Crystal Vision was inspired by the controversy of the incredible magic experienced during the psychedelic experience and the false knowledge in the general public about psychedelic drugs.
Shamans, Pagans and Mystics used sacred medicines in ritual all over the world for centuries to communicate with higher forces. Psychedelics have the ability to wake people up to the fundamental truth of life. They can induce a deep mystical understanding and inspire a spiritual evolution in human beings when used in the right environment with proper guidance!
The filmmakers believe that through the use of entheogenic substances one can find liberation from the "known"! Anthropological studies suggest that most of our religions originated from a mystical experience that was most likely induced by the ingestion of psychedelic plants, such as mushrooms, cacti, fungi etc. Psychedelics can create blissful feelings when used and not abused! In the Vedic text (Sanskrit writings) it is suggested that union with GOD can be achieved through psychedelic drugs as well.
Unfortunately even today the world is still ruled by power, money, ignorance, and greed, instead common sense, love, and wisdom! Governments control the media that spreads bogus propaganda to support unreasonable laws - just to brainwash the taxpayer and consumer population. This creates global turmoil, destruction and religious wars that need to end NOW! It is overtime for a mystical evolution that brings global unity! Time to be honest and truthful! Time to transcend differences, time to celebrate beauty! Eat a mushroom and dance. To prohibit self-discovery is madness! This is why Liquid Crystal Vision was created!
Synopsis
Liquid Crystal Vision captures the essence of the psychedelic experience as it explores a mystical movement from its roots, explaining in scientific detail why the children of the sixties seek out the most sacred sites on Earth to dance themselves into a transcendental state. CV brings us footage from sacred sites the world over, interviews with prominent artists, stunning visuals, and an epic soundtrack.

believe me.... my own knowledge of psychedelics back in the day was NOT false..... and I've known more than a few shamans, people who went to Mexico searching for the Carlos Castenada experience and came back transformed....or out of their gourds.
but thanks for the explanation. it is what I thought it was.....

You're welcome!
You should really try to watch it online, it's free and the link is in this thread. A beautiful film about the psychedelic trance community, which is a global community that dances for days on end in bliss.
By the way, the experience itself is very psychedelic. I was an active part in the community for two years...dancing and communing for two years, before I ever took a psychedelic at a party.
Also, yes, there is nothing new, so they say. But the psychedelic trance community isn't exactly what the hippies in the sixties were doing. We're glad they did it and they definitely led the way...but things evolve and grow constantly and if you had to label psytrancers, they would be cyberhippies...people who aren't just dropping out of the race to exert their freedom, but people who belive and live the fact that we can be an active and influential part of society and the world by dancing AND participating in the technological age in a big way.
Might be why there weren't films like this back then.

hehe...
A lot of the people in the film are my friends. I'm totally biased.

LOL!!!
Yeah Basicly that´s it. BUT! there is just a litle bit more too it than just that... You see, its the combination.... Thought and Dance, Some LSD, repetative/melodic goa trance, and then you might have something of a Out of this world expirience...Im not a drughead myself these days but the expiriences I had with the psytrance music, combined with focused dancing and the psychadelics is still so far as "Strong as it gets" I think, I was basicly BLOWN away.
But yeah, yeah, its only expirience....
Anyhow The music is still verry Interesting to me and I do miss the dancing... It´s certanly nothing like "going to a disco" if you know what a mean.
When you go in to a trance (and thats what you do) your no longer there to pick girls or whatever... Your there on a mission, and if you reach the climax than that mission becomes something like making love to your own head sort of thing and everything fals in to a clear perspective and a place. And makes sense. And its the Fullest of feelings.
And sure, Yeah true, its allllll an Illussssssion!

But HEY! Full power!
My god! music is indeed powerfull...
Well thats what I think.
