Watched Iqbal.
Had actually gone to watch mangal pandey but arrived too late, so reluctantly took Iqbal tickets. Reluctant? Well, i hadn't read any of the reviews, and only knew - it's about some deaf and dumb guy who wants to play cricket. Thought it would be another sob story, sad movie type... and then, while at the cinema hall, thehoarding said - Subhash Ghai presents... and I thought - oh no!

BUT it was a really really really nice movie.
For the most part we just kept laughing and laughing through the movie.
The story is beautifully told. Excellent casting. The child from "makdi" stole the show again. Beautiful cinematography. And authentic rural setting, not designer ethenic that one usually encounters. Excellent direction. All in all just such a pleasure to watch. Excellent movie. Three cheers for Nagesh Kukkunoor!!

And you are lucky that you did not have to sit through a torture called "The Rising"! A double whammy, the Brits would call it.
