India Perspectives magazine

A librarian friend tipped me off to this magazine a short time ago. I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find any previous mention of it.

It's published every month in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Bahasa Indonesia and German by the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

It's possible your local library may have subscribed to it, or if not, you can contact the Indian Embassy in your own country to obtain copies.

Recent articles have been

Ruskin Bond - His Life and Times by Ganesh Saili
The Gaddis of Himachal Pradesh by Tom Meyer
Rail to Haflong, the Bamboo Country by Sandeep Silas
Incedible India - Madyha Pradesh by Ashwani Lohani
The Sonar Quila of Jaisalmer by Hermant Sareen
Konda Reddis - Children of the Wilds by Ramchander Pentuker
Exotic Fruit Trees of Meghalaya by K.N. Kumar

It's a very varied format including art, crafts, architecture, anthropology, travel, Indian cinema and space technology and most copies I've read from cover to cover.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find many active websites with samples of the mag apart from one in pdf format which might be a problem to load if you're on a slow connection in Mandvi or Uttarkashi!

Excellent! Thanks for that dani!

Folks,

those who can, don't forget to buy the latest edition (June 26) edition of 'The Week' . The mid-year special contains a special feature titled 'Wonders of India'.

Thanks for the tip, Alan. The magazine sounds extremely interesting; I'll hunt for it at the Indian Embassy here.
