Not really India but Forced to Marry shows on CBC Newsworld tomorrow night @ 10PM Eastern. I think it might be of value to anyone interested in South Asia, how these unions can possibly occur in the first place, & of course the fallout/troubles of it all.

Quote:
Forced To Marry, has unique access as it follows the work of this groundbreaking team and unveils the moving and dramatic stories of British citizens who risk rejection, loneliness and sometimes their lives, to break out of unwanted marriages. Often misunderstood as a religious tradition, forced marriage, as opposed to arranged marriage, is carried out against the victims' will, or under duress.

Thanks for that reminder.

Also, did anyone see the first episode (of a three-parter) last night on BBC2 - "Gandhi - the Making of the Mahatma"? I missed the beginning, but saw it from when he left Bombay for first London, then later South Africa. This episode ended as he returned to India 21 years later.

Just finished watching a series on LINK TV here in the US called India School showing the differences in schools/education in India, specifically two in Pune. Really good!!!

QUESTION:
When we were in Chennai,India two years ago we saw a show on TV and not speaking the language all we could do was watch and really enjoy.

The premise was that a Diety (Blue) was riding around with this man in his car (a fancy convertible) and no one could see the Diety except the man- therefore everyone else thought the man was nuts because he was talking to "the air." haha I would LOVE to know if anyone else has seen this and knows the name and if it can be purchased on DVD???
