India on TV.

A sticky is probably best for this subject, as we've had many threads in the past.

Not only TV, but radio, newspaper/magazine articles or anything else you feel may be of interest to indiamikers.

I'll start with a strange one......

UK viewers, ITV1, Sunday 23rd April, 21:00 - 22:30, Sharpe's challenge, 2nd part the following day at the same times/channel, then (what could be even better) following the end of the 2nd programme, turn over to ITV3 (22:30 - 23:35) a 'behind the scenes' look at the making of Sharpe's challenge'.

I've not seen any of the earlier Sharpe's programmes, but I think it's a kind of swashbuckling adventure full of sward fights and romance.

This 2-parter is said to be set in Jaipur, so may be interesting.

Yes - On SBS now every Sunday night at 9.30 is a Bollywood movie!
fantastic! - i made my partner sit through it with me last sunday and at first he was a little whiney saying "oh babe, you know i'm not into that kind of thing" - but i knew he hadn't seen 'that kind of thing' so i didn't understand how he couldn't be into it until he saw at least ONE! so anyway, he watched and i saw his face turn from sour to absolute JOY he laughed and laughed!
we look forward to next week

The Indian name of this movie is 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' which was renamed with subtitles for western audience sensibilities as 'Straight from the Heart' . I was in love with Aishwarya for the performance she had done in the movie.

MOVIE - ACTION/MUSICAL - MAIN HOON NA
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the army commando, Major Ram who yearns to see the ambitious project Mission Milaap become a reality. The mission may prove to be the dawn of a new tomorrow, ending the long-standing enmity between two countries. But, some forces do not want that dawn to come. One of them is Raghavan who will do anything, including threatening the life of General Amarjeet Bakshi's daughter Sanjana. To protect Sanjana, Ram poses as a student at her school. But, he also has another agenda. He must fulfil the dying wish of his martyred father Brigadier Shekhar Sharma. This task involves intense emotions and long-standing misunderstandings, and strangely, the key to its success also can be found at Sanjana's school. Ram Prasad struggles to carry out his mission, but with a little help he gets there in the end. Directed by Farah Khan and also stars Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Sushmita Sen, Naseeruddin Shah and Sunil Shetty. (From India, in Hindi, with English subtitles) (2004) WS
