That's great, Ronak! Glad it worked out.
How long from phone-call to delivery?

I might be going to DD next week, and probably will drop in at Natraj, haven't done so in a while. I think I need to pick up a catalog as well, since they no longer have their website.

Within 7 - 8 days it was in my hand. In fact the book was dispatched on the same day I called up.

Just saw this thread, wonderful.May i add "Mountains of the Mind" by robert macfarlane, not specifically on the himalayas(although the last chapter deals with Mallory),it's about why we are so fascinated with these lumps of rocks,"explorers of the western himalayas" by John Keay, and on a more mondane note, "into thin air"by Jon Krakauer(everest disaster in 1996) and the so to say response to it "the Climb" by Anatoli Boukreev, the guide accused by Krakauer.Sorry if these titles have already been mentioned, i did scroll all the posts but couldn't see them.

Ronak.
I am surprised that you did not get the copy of The Valley of Flowers in Mumbai. I bought a copy of the same ( Nataraj Publishers, Dehradun) from Strand Book Stall at Fort on Jan 15th this year for Rs.295/- less 10% discount.

Strange. I had sent them at least 4 - 5 E-mails & visited them on two occassions along with E-mail print out. After around one month of follow up they replied back by E-mail saying this book not available. Actually I had enquired for four books. I am producing their E-mail reply below.

by Imogen Lycett Green (Author)

i loved reading the grand-daughter's account and felt inspired to visit himachal pradesh as a result (finally going in may this year).

I must admit I haven't read every post on this thread but so far you've all inspired me to go book shopping!

Here are a few himalayan books i've enjoyed (sorry if it's repetitive)

"Touching my fathers soul"
Jamling Tenzing Norgay
-a lovely recount of the 1996 acsent of Everest by the son of the first sherpa to reach the top!

"La Citadelle des Neiges"
Matthieu Ricard
- abeautiful poetic tale written by France's biggest ambassador for buddhism. Lovely reading.

"The Everest Hotel"
I. Allan Sealy
Fiction. Very descriptive and moving story writing set in the mountains. I'll say no more!

Imax movie Everest is based on the same expedition. Norgay stars in the movie along with 3 - 4 other climbers.
