Help with the title of a book...
Hi
A few months back I read a review of a book written by a lady who went to Kumaon hills of Uttaranchal. She spent a few years in a village and wrote her experiences of the rural life in the hills. I have forgotten the book title and the name of the author. I remember her name sounds like a Bengali name and she worked in Mumbai. So I request the learned members of Indiamike to help me trace that book. Thank you |

No, Thanks
Hi Bigzee,
Nice to see you. NO it's not that book. I know Ms. Vineeta Hoon. She did an anthropological and socialogical research on Bhotias. Currently she stays in Chennai. The book I was thinking about is a description of country life in Kumaon( around Almora ) and the author's experiences. She leaves Mumbai fed up with civilization and starts living in a place near Almora/ Ramgarh. It's about Pahadi locals who speak Kumaoni. Ofcourse, Bhotia people also live in Kumaon at the border areas. They speak Sino - Tibetan languages. Thank anyway. |
