and in honor of your thread I uploaded two photos of the Gandhi Museum in Madurai, a place I just love!

BTW. this thread is a year old.

After watching the Gandhi film, Sabarmati Ashram (Gandhi's ashram) in Ahmedabad is a special place to visit.

it may be a year old but it's the first time I've seen it.....unlike some of the other mods who shall remain nameless, I don't read every thread....

For those with the DVD, at approximately 2:02:00 into the film when Gandhi and the American reporter (played by Sheen) are chatting by the Porbandar seaside - you see large crane like objects on the pennisula behind Sheen's head. Does anybody know what exactly they are - smoke stacks, shipping cranes or oil drilling equipment? They've always raised my curiosity & striked me as being a bit out of place for that time period .....
