Lightbulb Films About India

I've been surfing the net for a long time trying to find films shot in India. I don't mean "Bollywood films", but western films shot there. I haven't found many till now. Can anybody add films to my list?

Bandit Queen
Passage to India
City of Joy

The James Bond movie Octopussy was partially shot in India.
The Bourne Identity 2 starts in India (Goa)

Don't know if you want to catalogue "Monsoon Wedding" and "Bride and Prejudice" under Bollywood, but they were made together with the UK.

These are the ones I currently think of

Monsoon wedding was a good one. I also remember East is East, shot in london but also interesting. Mira Nair also shot Kama Sutra, but I didn't like it very much.

The new Jacky Chan movie is shot in part in India. I think its Hampi?

Don't put down Bollywood movies :P In some of the older Bollywood movies one can actually see sights tourist are actually no longer able to enter, or things that just not like they used to be. For example: the Vyjay Anand film "Tere Ghar Ke Samne" (1963) has the great picturization of the song "Dil ka bhanwar kare pukar" with Nutan and Dev Anand climbing the stone steps to the lookout at the top of the Qutb Minar in Delhi. Then the song continues as they survey 1960s Delhi from the top of the tower, which are sights tourist are no longer able to enjoy as the walk inside the Qutb Minar is now closed to the public. There are lots of other such "sights" in Bollywood movies.

Foreign Films made in India

Here are a few:

1. The Jewel in the Crown - a very impressive 15 hour miniseries about the last days of the British Raj. Excellent from a historical perspective on the question of partition.

2. Staying On - The follow up to Jewel, that centers on the lives of a British couple who remain in India after partition. Intersting perspective of those Anglo-Indians whose country really was India, many had never been to the UK. Great Indian cast as well. Filmed in Shimla.

3. The City of Joy

4. A Passage to India

Like many of the other posters, I think that Inidan films (Hindi) are very undervalued, both my many Indians and non-INdians alike. Almost all of them are available with English subtitles and some are even filmed entirely in ENglish, for example, Green Card Fever, that is a Hindi film made in the US.
