Rangers, is it possible to get some (or portions) of those films/videos on the web site for those of us who couldn't be there -- could be beneficial to all involved. What'cha think?

very simple, if u have any trailers or something in a mpg, dat format etc. just upload them to http://rapidshare.de for best results.

Rangers -- I took quick look at rapidshare as I am not familiar with this site.
A few preliminary concerns: 1. The 100Mb upload limit would probably force movies more than a minute or two to be broken up into separate links and thereby disrupt the movie -- hence the recommendation by Jivan to use trailers or short, maybe less than 1 minute clips, depending on file format. 2. I am unfamiliar with this sites' reputation for protecting/not-protecting intellectual property of whatever you upload. The FAQ area indicats that copyright files cannot be uploaded. 3. Users who want to view the clips are limited to 30Mb/hr. -- not sure how much that translates into seconds of video per hr. -- may be very limiting OTOH it is a free resource, despite constraints, so may be worth exploring. There are probably others similar to this. But if you want to host movies and have more control on the Puri film site you guys set up, then you need to check storage and look into software that can allow access to video. Many choices out there once film/video is in digital format (and you can add 'watermarks' to protect it) -- like Quicktime format, etc. Maybe Jivan or other IM'ers know some good sample video distribution websites to look at and/or how to proceeed if you are intent on hosting on your own site. Otherwise, a site that allows easy way to upload and users to download, like Rapidshare may be good first step. I'm not sure which way you interested in going and what is best for viewers without some experimenting. |
