Oh lordy, we have just gone modern and produced a video for the local. If we get a decent settlement I'll post that (for good reason I don't appear in it)..

The most stark speech I have ever heard about such matters...much more evocative than even Al Gore's....and that coming from a 13 yr old has an extra effect.

why so greedy? ...

Do not pretend

if you cannot fix it do not break it....

such blatant and strong words!!!!
Sad that I never heard of Severn before but glad to know her now, Thanks for that, YG!

and that was in 1992, so she should be about 27 now. I sure hope that girl kept her eco-dreams alive and she's fighting the good fight....

Good news, she is still fighting a good fight! She even has a wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severn_Cullis-Suzuki

Amazing video, amazing child (now a full grown woman).

Here is a special report featuring her from 2002:
http://www.time.com/time/2002/greenc...eneration.html

And it should be noted that some countries have done a LOT to improve the environment, especially the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden (which are usually ranked highest in the world on environment issues).

It is really sad how some countries have received the "developed" moniker when they are stuck in the dark ages of everything except money and greed. And even more sad to see people (on this forum no less) call certain countries and people developed as if money and greed was the only thing that made people "developed", while calling other countries "undeveloped" for the same reason.

excellent! i love that she is still going strong. not surprising though when you hear the degree of commitment in her voice, her fearless stance, and the passion of her words.

One can then stop the movie from playing on the YouTube web page, as it would be a double download.

The movie can then be played on the portable VLC Media Player

There is a program which links to Firefox to download videos (www.videodownloader.net). You then click the icon for any movie you want to download and you have to "save link as" and change the file extension to flv. Once downloaded like this, you can run the flv file through VisualHub and convert it to .mov .mpg .aiff etc and redit in quicktime pro or similar before reuploading to youtube...
