Delhi Rocks if You Want it to !

Its been a long time since the rock and roll scene in New Delhi has got louder than before. But its weird enough to know that foreigners traveling are unaware of this. The other day i was in paharganj and some white guy tells me there isnt a place he can drink beer and listen to some good rock music, i couldn't help myself but laugh ! I told him he is looking for a rock pub in the wrong place.

Yes i know most white travelers do not come here to get a taste of rock n roll but its really something people should look forward to, India is not all about poor hungry people, it diverse and its unique.

Anyone who wants to know more about this and/or share rock music and things like that. Ill be glad to help

Do you know the name of a good rock bar here? If so I'd love to know it, so please post the information. You're too new to be able to use the PM system, and besides, IndiaMike is about sharing information with everyone- give us names and dates and times!

The name yes the name is Mezz in NFC (new friends colony) Ya i know im too new to use PM (i have no idea when ill be old)
Anyway i was planning to shred information on this page itself.
Dates and Times will come when they have to.. GIR (great indian rock) is over in Delhi.

Rock has different genres, some might prefer a pub called Blues in CP, they have live band performing on weekends. Mezz plays a bit of metal and a bit or rock n roll. Mezz is cheap and the best part is, you get free peanuts with beer n all =-)

Turquoise cottage used to be one of the best places for that in Delhi..its now shifted to vasant Vihar , in the Basant Lok complex... think its still open but not a 100% sure.

1. Cafe Morrison in South Extension.
2. Blues in CP, was there on Saturday and they had a flier put on advertising rock and rock n roll on Thursdays.

And there is a very famous one that I am not able to recall. It has just slipped my mind ? can anyone help me ?

Cafe Morrison is good enough, but it gets sticky at times. I cant imagine a rock pub to have couple entry on some special days. WEIRD




And ya there is Rock Cafe in Noida, Village Cafe (coffe shop) - IIt gate

SUPERSTARS in Noida, well they play aything from trance to metal, but when we bunch of rockers arrive, you know what would get played ! lol

TC was operating under the name of Opus in Vasant Vihar...but they have relaunched as TC again...
And the gigs are happening again…

There were times when Mezz was one of the best and top 10 in Delhi, as per Times. After DJ Manu left couple of months back, the numbers too died down. I used to check in Mezz every Saturday & Turqoise Cottage (Days of the Raj) every Wednesdays, but things are not the same anymore. Good Old Times. Still I have other options like Cafe Morrison, Blues, Chinese Thai & Cafe (Gurgaon)... They're all good to peace out on weekends.

Hm...Opus i remember going there and not finding a place to sit as they were going through renovation or something. Anyway its a very far off place from the center of Delhi. Oh i wish there was something in Paharganj, well at least a descent pub !

Good Old times ...its jus not coz of the DJ, the crowd has no idea that Mezz is a concept pub and the pub owner just wants to earn money any whichever way. They are playing dumb songs and they get offend at people screaming and singing. So its loosing its image...i remember being disappointed at the shi** music played at times. I also remember the line mr dj used " i might loose my job for playing songs you guys wanted "

But considering its location, price etc, its still a savior.

Are there any halfway decent rock groups performing live and regularly anywhere in Delhi?

Ditto for jazz?? (not the India Habitat centre ones, but any others?)

You have a lot of band performing now than what it was even 2 years back as well as Jazz, though i see less of the latter and consequently know less about the frequency of the gigs , but there are definitely a few bands playing Jazz in Delhi , the last one i went to was at IHC (just the venue was taken , it was not an IHC organized event)

For rock there are one too many options , most bands think they can are good enough to go straight for original stuff (which i strongly disagree with) but some good ones are... Cafe morisson is a popular place for gigs.
