Darshan (The Embrace) - Amma movie

for Amma devotees, the IFC movie Darshan is out now...

My cable TV company runs IFC movies at the same time they are in theaters so I just saw it. Those of you with cable TV in the US, it may be offered right now (for me it was $5.99 pay per view).

I am not a devotee, but I loved it.... Amma is filmed at her ashram in Kerala, and her trips to Kolkata and Varanasi.

All gurus seem to have some sort of controversy about them.

I'm not a devotee, as such, either --- but I still think this woman is wonderful

I was there when they were filming in Kerala (at the ashram in Vallickavau and at the "Big Birthday" in Kochi) but don't think I made it onto celluloid. The director (Jan Kounen) is pretty cool.

Question Amma

She came to our school in Delhi in 1989. At that time when she hugged me, I felt a kind of electricity, some kind of a charge passing through me. When she was recently in Virginia, I didnt get the same feeling. Although after a little while and for a few days afterwards i did feel different than usual. Does anybody explain such a difference in the experience for me?

sssssssssh..watch for the resident doc here (dr barai)...he might label you suffering from some psychosomatic or whatever psycho disorder and might send those allopathic pills with a subscription plan..

seriously, i think it has to do with her aura~ ..i really think you can transmit positive vibrations and maybe thats what it is...the hug transmits it with the contact..and maybe thats what you felt running through you.

My first experience of her was by far the most powerful; maybe it just is that way with first times.

But subsequent experiences have still been full of peace and good energy.

She is one energetic lady as she has marathon hugging sessions which last for 18 hrs at a stretch.

i've seen Amma twice..once in D.C. and once in Bangalore...and although the crowd is different (significantly larger in B'lore no doubt!)...both of the experience still leave me very emotional....i think it's the energy i receive from these spiritual (can i call it experience?! - whether it's with a sublime person like Amma or an ancient temple or something so majestic in mother nature -e.g. ocean, Narmada/Ganga rivers, Grand Canyons, etc.)..that hug, smile, vibrations around the entire place wherever she is...makes you feel like you're in bliss.

i want to see that movie, YG!
