Hello,
I am interested in buying a bamboo flute in E minor. It does not have to be an expensive one, but one from a music store in Kolkatta, Mumbai or Delhi s.v.p. with Indian 6-hole layout preferred. Your mission. If you are in India and can to ship it to me I'll pay you with PayPal in $Cdn or $USD cash... and help out a fellow backpacker. Or if you know of a good store with a website, you can reply to this thread. My Google skills are not very good. Please PM me with a price or to express interest. I have a good one in D major but I lent it to a friend. Merci, de Montreal |

thanks
Hi Akshay,
Thanks for those links. I'm not sure why I couldn't find them on Google. Bharat Music doesn't seem to sell flutes but Bina seems to have a good selection and they have a great website with nice pictures. I like the foam padded case too, for a single flute - I remember getting a cloth one tailor made for me in Udaipur, it was a real treat. I've submitted an inquiry to the Bina Music store, and I suspect they'll get back to me once they know the shipping details and such. Nice! Cheers, Kelly |

I believe the Ali Akbar College in San Rafael, California has flutes. Very reliable + high quality products. http://www.aacm.org/shop/

Well, I received no response from Bina Music about my flute request... Ali Akbar College in California looks like a good option but I haven't contact them yet. And so, I'd like to offer $60 USD to a backpacker or resident of India who could buy the $5 flute that I'm looking for and ship it to me. When I was backpacking across India that was about a week's budget for me, and it would have been a fun project to seek out a quality music store or two. If no one is interested I'll just by from Ali Akbar then, but here's to bumping to this thread to the top again.
PS - I still think and dream about returning to India, even though it's been a few years and my motorcycle sits gathering dust in Delhi. No one I know who hasn't visited India understands why I find travel in India so interesting... argh. The travel bug has me forever, but it feels like forever for me to make it back again. Kelly |
