Buying a guitar to learn on in Ahmedabad

Hey all, i'm looking for any advice people can give me. I don't know how to play the guitar, but it has been a dream of mine for a while and i've finally decided to get one and learn as i have a lot of free time.

I'm first of all wondering around what i should pay for a guitar that would be decent to learn on. And also if anyone knows a good place in Ahmedabad, where i'm currently staying. I've found a list of musical instrument shops through the yellow pages, but would like to prevent going from shop to shop looking. I'm also aware of the hassle carrying this around with me will be, but i'm willing to deal with it. Right now i just have a 30L pack. Any other advice on this venture would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
jared

Hi Jared - can't help with how much you pay for a guitar but if it's been a dream - do it. I met an Australian woman in Varanasi in the early spring of this year who'd bought one. Just a week ago she passed through the town in the states where I live and still had the guitar. In the last nine months it's been to Thailand, France,
England, Spain, Portugal, Maine, New York, and finally Idaho. She got home a week ago, and it made that trip too. All in a soft case.

Some decent indina made guitars guitars (for the price) are availabel in India. But, if you don't know how to play, I would stronbgly recommend that you take a someone who plays to help you select a decent instrument. some are unplayable and will only result in more frustration for a beginner.
