A craze takes hold of us once in a while – it is true for the tinsel world of Bollywood. After the acceptance of the general public of movies like Chocolate and Garam Masala, producers are closeted with their favorite directors and actors to devise ways and means to go for the Oscars or the Academy awards or the Golden Lion or the Golden Bear that are awarded to honor cinemas. The off shore tag helps boost domestic markets and, even the attempts to do so bring applause and keep up the suspense so that the audience takes his time out to appreciate the film. He might not like it – that is bad luck to him and, because he has taken the trouble to form his first hand opinion, the producer is happy.

Therefore a brainstorming session is on. There are the bearded ones, the bald ones and the ones with nasal accents. Controversies rage over the title of the next filmy outputs that are bound to click. While one school of thought supports Bhaji, another is adamant on Sambar Masala and they face stiff competition from the third group that will be satisfied with nothing other than Laddoos. Each one has its logic and, sufficient reasons to justify its stand.

Just imagine the promos – Sambar masala floors the organizers of the Oscars or Laddoos jostle for space with sandwiches in the showcases of Berlin or Bhaji all set to win the Academy awards. Of course, Bhaji could be mistaken for Bhajji, the bowler. Hence, astrologers will be roped in to advise the Sardarji to add alphabets to his name so that he is not mistaken for Bhaji, the entry to the Academy awards. Sponsors have already lined up – there are the masala giants ready to sign the contracts with the producers of Sambar Masala. The pau-bhajiwallahs of Juhu beach have formed a consortium to collect funds from their patrons and contribute an equal amount from their pockets to see Bhaji in the next Academy Awards ceremonies. The Laddoos have several sponsors willing to extend co-operation. They come from the North, the South, the West and the East. The problem is that each one of them wants exclusive marketing rights. It has now become a political affair and the final sponsor will be decided by the bosses sitting in New Delhi.
