Well, Telugu cinema is huge. Also, Tamil cinema based in Chennai, Malayalam cinema from Kerala, Bengali industry based in Kolkata.
Bhojpuri cinema (films made in a dialect of Hindi, aimed at Bihar) is doing particularly well these days. Regional films are also made in Assamese, Punjabi, Nepali, Marathi, Gujarati, etc |

"Some 150 features a year are produced in and around that bustling metropolis, more movies than just about anywhere else except Bombay."
I doubt it. As far as I know, for the last ten years, Telugu and Tamil movies individually outnumbered the Mumbai (Hindi) ones.

ramoji film city's "largest filmmaking complex in the world" claim would suggest you may well be correct.
btw, the is the 2006 film "style," mentioned in the article, worth a viewing? |

Haven't seen the movie but here's a review:
http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/t...view/8055.html The movie "Godavari" is my favorite from 2006. As the name suggests, it's shot almost entirely on the river Godavari on a House Boat, starting from Rajahmundry and ending in Bhadrachalam. http://www.nowrunning.com/film/revie...&mv=God avari |

Tollywood kills bollywood. Telugu movies are incredible. they're crazy in all aspects, from storylines to fighting scenes to dancing. man these south indians sure know how to dance!! And the fans are so loyal to their stars! In Vizag I saw an NTR Jr. movie, and they had a huge (i mean gigantic) cutout of him towering over the movie theater. it's quite incredible. I'll also have to check out some tamil movies too. For some good telugu recommendations (fairly new) see Chandramukhi (dubbed from tamil into telugu?) it's wicked.

The fans are so loyal to the stars in Tamil Nadu that they elect them to run the place.
Hence our government being as laughably stupid as the films. Thankfully it lacks the dreadful music, but, apart from that it couldn't be much worse!

Listen, when it comes to good things, we're copycats.
![]() Reagan Arnold Terminator So we decided to do a one up on the loony scale. Failed Actors? Bad Actors? Butt ugly actors? You name it, we'll elect them. We're soooooo democratic. Unlike the rest of the world, we decided to give stupidity a chance to run the country.

As to the article, I don't know how much of it is accurate. All the major studios listes, WB, Sony and Paramount have studio tours. Albeit, not as extensive as Universal's. |

'Tollywood' just turned 75.
http://inhome.rediff.com/movies/2007/jan/29telugu.htm http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/C...ow/1489947.cms And they did have good real life 'masala' fights and controversies to mark the occasion. ![]() |

Vijay rocks! I saw two of his movies on my Lufthansa flights to Chennai, and I bought one of his movies at the local Indian foodstore (and I negotiated the price of the DVD
)I saw another movie on one flight -- I wish I could remember the name of it -- that was a very powerful movie, and sad...about a young couple in Madurai who could not be together, so she ended up with a rich man and he ended up a crazy beggar...I cried at the end of it...if someone knows the name of it, I would appreciate it as I would like to buy the DVD....
