Bollywood movie extra, film tour, how to thread
Don't know if that is a serious question about a main role in a film but - in the mainstream Hindi film industry I'd say even fewer people get big roles than in the US commercial film industry, as it's more of a star system than the US system at present, more like the US up through the 50s, and people get into the business via the usual somewhat unpredictable routes, like -- being related to someone; modeling; acting on TV; going to acting school, etc.
Occasionally there is an almost-random-seeming casting of a non-South Asian person in a role written for such a person, but basically no non-South Asian develops a career there -- a few exceptions include a couple of people who are "white" but are actually Indian nationals, born there and Hindi speakers -- Tom Alter, who is in his late 60s now and plays/played usually small Brit parts, also is a theater actor; and Kalki Koechlin, in her 20s or 30s, born and raised in Pondicherry and playing some leading roles lately in movies like That Girl in Yellow Boots and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. And another category of exception - the occasional villain -- Bob Christo, a shaved-headed Australian guy, career through maybe the 70s or 80s; and the stuntwoman from Australia known as The Fearless Nadia.
But of course - there's always a first time!
