Looking forward to Drona!

Presuming those are India release dates, when can we expect to see them in UK?

Do you know something about most of these? Any you're looking forward to?

I think Abhishek and Aishwarya are in Sarkar, and Jodhaa Akbar is a big-budget Moghul/Rajasthan historical with Aishwarya and Hrithik Roshan, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker (Lagaan)-- but beyond that I don't think I know any of the rest of them.

Wow Thunderbird - what's the story of you being in it? are you perhaps a co-star? or an extra? I was an extra in KANK, it was the best thing I ever did!!

And thanks for the info. These go on my calendar - U Me Aur Hum, Har Pal (Shiney & Preity could be good together!), and Tashan especially as I basically love Yash Raj stuff, even when it doesn't work I want to see it.

I was in Bombay in September. Just hanging out and some chap approached me and asked me to be an extra the on a shoot the following day. I went along, it was great fun. Abhishek had a massive ego!

It was on a ridiculously hot day in Bombay, and the scene we were filming was set in a Czechslovakian winter haha! Needless to say my costume that I was instructed to wear all day was more suited to the Czech weather.

I'm an extra in a kind of grocery shop where Abhishek works behind the counter... although it'll be interesting to see whether I made the final cut haha.

I meant to add Drona to my post, which of course I will now look forward to.

A lot of us NYC fans were in KANK as "background," most of us many many times. We all kept what amounted to a running collective blog about it at Bollywhat.com, where the forums are basically Hindi movie discussion.

But in actual fact, he is a suicide bomber commissioned by a Muslim fundamentalist group to detonate a bomb near Red Fort on 15th August. During his fifteen day roller coaster journey, Numair manages to take shelter in the Professor's house and wins the trust and fondness of the couple. While helping Numair to get an employment entry pass for 15th August celebrations at Red Fort, Professor Mathur introduces him to the warm and loving people of Chandni Chowk who coexist with fun, music, love and colorful events and festivals irrespective of their religion.

Numair is astonished with some of the characters he meets in Chandi Chowk. These include Shagufta, a modern Muslim college girl, the Professor's sharp-tongued wife Roma, Rahat, a Sufi pop singer, Miya an 84-year-old who is full of patriotism and the fun loving Sardar Kirtan Singh. Despite his deep-rooted fundamentalist beliefs, he sees this as one of the most colorful and loving areas. There is no black and white. Nevertheless he moves on with his mission. What is disturbing the mind of this young lad who has come here to attack? Doesn't the sacrifice of the Professor and his wife mean anything to him?

I love your filmi updates, Indizen!

Anyone gonna see One, Two, Three? I got the soundtrack and it is very catchy - annoying, but catchy

I'm still waiting to see if it plays here in NY - so far it's not showing on the radar here.

cheers!

Set in New York in the weeks before and after 9/11, this poignant tale of love set against the forces of hate and intolerance centers on the romance between an aspiring Muslim photographer and a young Sikh woman.

Bike messenger, Ali Siddiqui (AMIT SIAL, debutant) meets the beautiful but married Saloni (MAHIMA CHAUDHRY,) a charismatic mithaai shop owner who encourages Ali's photography and becomes his muse. Despite Ali's secret and largely unrequited crush on Saloni, he develops a close friendship with her and her husband Harry (VIKRAM CHATWAL). But when tragedy strikes with the terrorist attacks on Sept 11, 2001, her father-in-law, a retired army Colonel (ANUPAM KHER), devastated by grief and anger, directs his longstanding animosity towards Muslims at Ali, as the young man's affection for Saloni grows increasingly evident. Although the Colonel's wife (SUHASINI MULAY) bravely tries to pacify her husband, the Colonel, unable to accept life's pain, threatens to bring everything to a violent end.

An emotional drama, Hope and a Little Sugar is written and directed by TANUJA CHANDRA, for whom this is her first English language film. Joining Chandra behind the scenes is a seasoned film crew, including cinematographer NIRMAL JANI, who had earlier shot Dushman and Sur for her, as well as Costume Stylist, ANAITA SHROFF ADAJANIA (Dhoom, Race, Being Cyrus.) The producers for the film are two independent film-makers living in New York, SCOTT PARDO and GLENN RUSSOW, while the editor is HILLARY PEABODY. The music is by WAYNE SHARPE, New York based musician, who has also composed the background score of Prakash Jha's Gangajal (for which he won a Filmfare award) and Afghan filmmaker Jawad Wassal's Firedancer. Joining him in composing as well as in playback singing in some of the film's tracks are accomplished singers, SONU NIIGAAM and JASBIR JASSI.

I love these updates.

Tomorrow, Friday, April 11, is opening day for U, Me, Aur Hum, which if I'm right will be the frist movie in several months likely to get a big audience and a lot of attention, at least until word of mouth conveys a judgment about it one way or the other. I'll see it no matter what I hear, probably good and early, too!

First movie in some time of Kajol, arguably India's favorite female star. As noted, first directorial effort of her husband, Ajay Devgan, who co-stars.

From the trailers, you can see it's a love story, and some kind of story about a marriage that takes place over along span of time.

People are speculating it might be something like The Notebooks (woman has Alzheimer's, man tells her the story of the years gone by), or Away From Her (woman has Alzheimer's, in early stages of it makes her own decision to leave her husband and go live in a facility; in that movie, the husband had betrayed the wife chronically in the marriage, and the issues play out in a surprising way).
