NO, NO, NO.......

You can have my copy.

Some people say that I'm obsessed with Indian Railways, but I haven’t even got half way through the book (I bought it about a year ago), it is very hard to read, very boring and I've learnt nothing new about Indian Railways from the book.

A friend told me that it was a poor book, and typically, I ignored their advice and wasted my money.

Royston Ellis’s ‘India By Train’ is much more informative, though probably only for railway buffs.

Buy the book Indian Railway Stories, if you are a story lover. It's a collection of stories by authors like Rudyard Kipling,Khushwant Singh,Ruskin Bond,R.K. Laxman etc etc. Buy it only in India as it cost only Rs200 here.
You can book it online through www.indiatimes.com too.

ISBN : 0140240667

"Exploring indian Railways" is not bad at all !

However, Bill Aitken's other books on railway journeys in India - "Travels by a lesser line" and "Branch Line to Eternity" make far better reading. Recommended !

Branch Line To Eternity much better than Exploring Indian Railways. I read both and Exploring...has many passages pulled straight out of "Branch Lines..." or at least abridged.

Branch Lines... more about steam locos and branch line excursions than IR, though IR is discussed at length at some places.

Here is what Branch Lines To Eterneity did to me... I was compelled to take a Branch Line travel myself:
