Very long movie, 4 hours long. They could have trimmed a lot of it but on the whole a lovely movie and worth a watch. The cinematography of the forts, the palaces etc. is breathtaking and the costumes are beautiful. The lead pair have done a good job. I would recommend it.

I saw it yesterday in Melbourne. I enjoyed it. It is definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

Fun part was seeing that some of it was filmed at a place I had stayed at in 2006, Madhogarh Fort.

Thanks for the advance notice Bij. Hope it shows up in my area, wouldn't want to miss a chance to see Aishwarya on the screen..

Have you heard anything about the Taj film she's due to be making with Ben Kingsley? Link... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...ingsley128.xml

That ought to be a great movie, Wanderer. Vireya is the movie in English? Is that Hrithik Roshan as Akbhar? And do you think it will still be around late April??? I would love to see it and not possible here.

No, Aishah, not in English, I'm afraid. The Moslem characters speak Urdu, the Hindus speak Hindi. Some of us read the subtitles!

I don't expect it will still be running in late April, unfortunately. You might have to wait for a DVD?

And yes, that was Hrithik as Akbar, with Aishwariya as Jodha, proving she can actually act.

I'm going to try to go see this in the next couple days here in Lucknow, which seems like a wonderfully apt place to go see a period film about the Mughal period (even though most of the big historical sites here date from the Avadhi period, but whatever!). Especially since I'm heading into Mughal territory over the next week or so as I move towards Agra and Delhi. It's like seeing Braveheart in Glasgow or something...

Good to know it's 4 hours long - I won't plan to see it on a day where I'm also trying to accomplish a bunch of other stuff.

Excellent, it's out here in Ireland this week I think.

So what can I expect? In these big epics, I like big battle scenes, and huge scenic shots. Anything like that?

Yes you have those and also a couple of very interesting fights done well. But this movie is more about the love between Jodhaa and Akbar so though there are battle scenes there aren't too many of them. The love angle has been dealt with very effectively and subtly.

Looks like IndiaMike has caught Jodhaa Akbar fever. I went to go see it on Saturday here in NYC with friends - the 6PM show SOLD OUT! So was the 9M show. I was floored. I see bollywood flicks here all the time - solo and with friends and we're usually the only ones in the theatre. Going to try again Wed or Friday. Good to hear it's getting ok reviews I've been listening to the soundtrack for a time now.

The battle scenes arent choreographed that well, dont expect something by Hollywod standards, but the love angle is captured nicely...
