A Rabindrasangeet, "Ei kotha-ti mone rekho". This song was also used in the movie Chowringhee. And here's Hemonto Mukhopadhyay singing it.
Some info about this song: "The lyrics imply that for Tagore, having lived a full life on Earth, it was time for him to depart. Hence, it has been titled as his 'Swan Song'. A true nationalist at heart, perhaps Tagore had a premonition of his departure before India gained independence from the British. Thus he had lamented that although he had led a full life and had accomplished a lot, he nonetheless was handicapped; ergo, had to "walk the land at night".......", copied from:

Ei kotha ti mone rekho, ... Remember this word of mine
Tomader ei hashi khelay, ... in your happy times,
Aami jey gaan geyechilem, mone rekho, ... that I once sang a song,
Jorno patar jhorar belay mone rekho, ... When the leaves are dropping in fall, remember this,
Ei kothati mone rekho ... Remember this word of mine
Aami jey gaan geyechilem ... that I once sang a song
Next: L or E or M
Bonus: A song, starting with I, by Kingston Trio
If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles,
a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles ....
Quiz: There's also a Hindi film song with the same tune. Clue: it was used in the movie Jurm, sung by Kumar Sanu. Can you identify the song?
aarosh got it, here's the Hindi song, 'Jab koi baat bigad jaye".
Funny, there's also a French song with the same tunes (I don't know French, but it appears like it is the same one as sung by Kingston Trio).
...
And finally, here's another song to cheer you up

Even so... remember me
Even if far away I stray
Remember me.
If old love gets slowly buried
Under the strands of a new love's mesh
Even so... remember me.
Even if I am just nigh
And yet you cannot see me;
I become like a shadow
Shrouded in doubt
Remember me.
If tears well up
And cloud your eyes
If suddenly one day
The games come to a halt
On a lovely night
Even so... remember me
If suddenly one day
All work gets obstructed
On an autumn morn
Even so... remember me
If, remembering me,
Tears do not well up
In the corner of your eye
Even so... remember me
arindam - thank you for ei kotha'ti mone rekho

brishti, sagarneel: you posted some wonderful songs, specially the "pagla haoar badal deene". I hear that Kolkata is under seige from monsoon rains, how about where you are brishti? and wow, that was a masterful translation brishti!
Yesterday, we had a beautiful night sky, full moon, and I went out around midnight to shoot some pictures. So here's a song to remember my escapade by. This song was also used in Ritwick Ghatak's film Komol Gandhar.
Aaj jyotsna raate, shobai geche boney,
Aaj jyotsna raate, shobai geche boney,
Boshonter ei mataal shomironey,
Aaj jyotsna raate, shobai geche boney,
Aaj jyotsna raate, shobai geche boney,
....
Full English translation <http://monsoonmusic.blogspot.com/>:
This moonlit night,
All have gone to the woods.
Oh the intoxicating winds of spring.
I won't go with them.
Let me lie here in my own room.
Alone in my quiet little corner.
I'll have to remain in this little home of mine.
I'll have to wash it, wipe it with care.
I'll have to keep awake,
Lest he comes.
I wish I knew when he will come.
Oh! If he remembers me...
In these intoxicating winds of spring...

Starting with 'A' from 'rabba'. Here's a Bengali song, sung by Hemonto Mukhopadhyay, in the early 50's. And here's its Hindi version, from the film Anand (mid 70's), sung by Mukesh.
Bengali lyrics.
Aamay proshno kore neel dhrubotara,
Aar koto kal ami robo dishahara,
Jobab kichui tar dite parinai,
Shudhu, potho khuje kete gelo,
Ey jibono shara, ey jibono shara ...
Next: S/H/A/R
Bonus song with 'A', from the film Sharmilee, Shashi Kapoor and Rakhi Gulzar.
P.S: A favorite monsoon song of mine, a Rabindrasangeet, for all you romantics out there
