Which is the best city to live in South India?
Bringing up an old topic again... just jot in your views on this if you aren't already tired doing it!
1) Which is the best city to live in South India? You are free to include any south Indian city in your consideration. 2) Among three biggies - Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai - which is the best to live in? Consider facilities, weather, people, cost etc. Why just South India? I think I just wanted to shrink it to a manageable scale. Let's see how it goes ![]() |

It would be great if those with opinions could substantiate them in some way. Providnig some of the relative advantages and disadvantages of each leaves a more lasting impression...
As for me, I've got no opinion ![]() |

...You will have soon!
Nor do I because my experience is so limited. I love Chennai, but suspect that a quieter, cleaner life could be had in Trivandrum or Kochi. I've heard good things about Mysore as a place to live. Many people want nightlife and excitement in a city: my idea of a good night out is a classical concert followed by a cup of tea. But I do need a broadband internet connection ![]()

Please consider Mysore. Climate is similar to Bangalore, people are laid-back, small town, lower costs, lots of greenery, lots of culture and history, no power or water supply issues. One drawback is that the nearest airport is in Bangalore (160 kms away), but the up-coming Bangalore-Mysore highway and the plethora of trains to BLR and Chennai must cut down on travel time.
Of course, dont expect it to remain that way in the next decade. |

I was told that Mangalore and Karwar are great places too. Anyone knows better? And how about Coimbatore?
Out of Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad, I feel it would be either Hyd or Chennai at the top, as these two cities are coming up well and Bangalore is on the decline - high pollution, unacceptable traffic levels, ridiculously high property rents/prices and bad infrastructure. |

Those are the negatives people and the media have been talking about. I have been seeing Bangalore over the last ten years or so, but to answer your question, I don't live there. I am just an eager neighbour from Chennai, looking for reasons to relocate, if any.

There is no single city that can cater to everyone’s vital, essential and desirable needs or fancies. A partygoer will hate Chennai/ Hyd/ Trivandrum/ Kochi..and his choice obviously will be Bangalore. But a laid-back, sandal-clad tourer will like Trivandrum/ Kochi. An adventure-seeker trekker will prefer Mysore/Coimbatore. Even Coorg, Ooty, Kodaikanal are not bad choices either for a person who wants to be in ‘Kool’ climate and is probably retired.
The choices are plentiful, it is the settler who needs to pick his ‘best fit’ and am sure he will find one.

My vote for Bangalore, for it's people and weather. Both are friendly and give a pleasant experience.
