Western wedding dress in Bangalore?

Hi,

I'll be getting married next year (back home in Belgium), and my wife-to-be would like to buy her wedding dress here in Bangalore, hoping that it would be cheaper to do so.

Now my question would be if someone could recommend a shop to buy the material from, and a tailer capable of making a western wedding dress?

If necessary we can also buy the material in Belgium, and have the dress made here (we're going home for Christmas.)

I'm just worried no-one here will be able to make a dress like this.

Hi,

I don't think I can help much, but just wanted to say that I think you can have almost anything made in India with some research. Fabric shouldn't be any problem either. I would try talking to some of the more reputable places around MG road in B'lore; they will be able to give you some feedback. (Surely locals will know cheaper places, though). Also, maybe you should re-post this under the Bangalore thread or even in the expat area - someone who lives in Bangalore should be able to give you more helpful info. Beautiful dress...Good luck to you!

No, by the time we went home for Christmas we hadn't found a tailor we could trust yet, so my fiancee bought a dress in Belgium instead.

We had our wedding invitations done in Bangalore though, and I'm not too happy about them either, the light lines of the drawing on the front didn't come through properly, and they misaligned the two sides on the inside of the invitation (even though I'd given them proper publishing photoshop files.) So make sure you demand a proof print (on regular paper) before letting them print the proper invitations.

We tried Commercial Street but with no luck(or maybe because we're exhausted that day that we left it) One shop was willing to do it but asked us to buy the materials (so buying those materials will be another story) So decided to just get it done at my home country and asked my mom to hire the seamstress she knows (I will give the measurements and get it done there) As my family will come to India they will just bring the gown 2wks before the wedding so we could just make the final changes here.

About the Invitations - Thank you, I will do that. We made our own invitation too and would want a good result on print.

Btw, Stayed at Antwerp for couple of months just near Central Station! Waking up seeing that great view The Wok restaurant is just below the apt (I love the noodles there!)

Ok then,again thanks.

Order one off of something like ebay and have a seamstress fit it properly. Works all the time overseas. I guess shipping costs on that might be high though...

I had mine made @ Thai Designs on Commercial St. (same building as Vashis Jean Shack & Jean Joint; just above them). They copied a designer gown from a pic I found on the web & the cost wasn't too bad (esp. considering how much I'd have spent in the US for a decidedly NOT designer gown). Only drawback is that they do tend to have somewhat lengthy lead times for this type of work, depending on how much detail is involved. They can make the underskirt, veil, etc. as well.

Bridal Botique

The owners of Rings and Roses (wedding coordination company) run a Boutique especially for bridal wear and apparel-they will have just what your looking for. Its a beautiful little store in the Frazer Town area just off of Promenade Road. Landmark is Thom's Bakery. Good Luck. I think the number is +9180-41139809.
