Hi everyone
Im from the UK,I'm living with my boyfriend in Dollars Colony, Bangalore. Ive been here aprox 7 months and now Im looking at doing some part time voluneer work in my local area. I have researched differnt charities but can't seem to find anything suitable locally. This maybe because Dollars Colony is classed as a 'posh' area to live, still there must be someone out there who needs some help even a few hours a week! I am happy to do admin/office work or hands on. If anyone knows of such a place or can point me in the right direction I'd be very very greatful. |

Hi Gemma,
You could try volunteering for the TeachIndia initiative taken by the Times group. Check out http://teachindia.itimes.com/public_teach-india.php for more details As Dollars colony is well connected and centrally located traveling to other parts of the city shouldn't be of much trouble |

Hi
Thank you for your very quick reply! I will have a look at the link you sent me, I have steered away from any kind of teaching as im not too confident in standing up in front of a group, but maybe some one-on-one would suit me better. I guess I just need to be brave and get on with it!! I really want to put some my free time to better use. |

Oasis India
Hi! I am a US volunteer with Oasis India. I think they are doing great work and it may be a good organization for you to consider.
They work in slum communities and also fight sex trafficking. Please email: anita.kanaiya@oasisindia.org if you'd like more info on how they might be able to use you. Best of luck! |
