hi esmeralda
last i remember - accomodation in shadashivnagar was very expensive - i dont know your budget - but it is positively not an area where students live. close by - is RT Nagar - where you will get just as good an accommodation - and cheaper. i do know of 'a' paying guest facility in frazertown - that is bit further away - but a great place to be close to the hub of the city. over to you batistuta and/or prashant... and hey! welcome to IM ![]() :brishti |

esmeralda, I am sure you find it a bit overwhelming to try and locate a place to stay for a few months in an unfamiliar city.
In case you haven't already tried it, I think it would be worthwhile if you get an overall idea of the layout of the city, especially in relation to Sadashivnagar.Google city map is a good way to do this. The following link brings up the Bangalore City map centered on Sadhashivnagar area, scrolling around will display the location of RT Nagar, Malleshwaram, Frazer Town, Cox Town and other prominent localities where you could try for affordable short lease/ Paying Guest/Sharing accommodation. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=City+Market,+Bengaluru, +Bengaluru,+Karnataka,+India&i e=UTF8&ll=13.011833,77.577038& spn=0.018607,0.029182&z=15&iwl oc=addr Once you get a hang of the relative location of various 'nagar's, try one of these following sites to search for accommodation. All of them allow you to filter your search based on locations like RT Nagar, Sadashivnagar etc. http://bangalore.click.in/ http://bangalore.locanto.in/ http://www.payingguests.com/ http://search.justdial.com/ All the best. |

Sadashivnagar happens to be one of the slightly more upmarket areas in bangalore so I don't think you will encounter any problems prevalent in other parts of bangalore.
I think you can hire a serviced apartment (i.e a furnished apartment for Rs 25,000- Ts 30,000 a month or US$500 -US$ 600 ) these apartments come furnished with a kitchen and all that or if you are looking for a cheapre option you can rent out a place it might cost you Rs 10,000 - 15,000 a month, approx US$ 250. What course do you intend to do ? Have you checked with the institute if they provide any facilities ? Feel free to ask if you need to know anything else.. Hope you accomplish all that you intend to on this trip !

Ok if it is three months then you can stay as a Paying Guest
or PG as it is commonly know.. It might not cost you more than US$100 US$200 You can get good PG's ie single room(no sharing) but getting an attached bathroom will cost more .. I think You can search PG's in bangalore at this website http://www.payingguest.in/ |

Hi esmeralda
It would be really great to know the name of the instution and the compleate address of the insturion where you are going to have your cource. I am staying in bangalore from past 9 years. I am pritty femiliar with the loaction i am staying bit far away from the location. It would be really great if you can give the name of the instution as there are lot of instution who teach animation. If they get forigne students they take them for ride as they know that the forigne students have money and they can make money.. so let me know the instution name...there are couple of intution near my locaion where you can learn animation cource. And for your informantion you can bargain on your cource fee also in india. rudy Mod Note Hi Rudy. Just a gentle reminder that commercial activity (such as the option of someone staying as a paying house guest) is not allowed on the site. Accordingly that piece of text has been removed. Since you also have a sufficient number of posts it is also suggested that the op use the private message system to get in touch with you as opposed to you listing a personal email address (this will attract spam). Thanks for your help with this. Last edited by brownboy66 : Mar 31st, 2008 at 21:02. Reason: merge |

be warned:
esmeralda:
in 3-4 months you will learn NOTHING about animation. most of these institutes that advertise so - only teach you the software ie. maya, corel draw, illustrator, photoshop etc. you will be technically kinda proficient in them softwares. but will you be an animator - nope. since i have no idea on what the course is about - OR how advanced or basic the course is, here is the spiel on animation... animation involves: ideating > visualisation > character design > treatment > storyboarding THEN: animation > colouring > compositing > sound design > editing all this CANNOT be taught in the timeframe you are mentioning... no matter how advanced [ if it is so ] the course is. so please think it over before you enroll. a typical animation course would require a minimum of 2-3 years. :brishti |

I agree 100% with what brishti says...
I doubt if you can learn much in 3 months... considering all your airfare and all other costs the course might just not be worth it in the end. Have you thought about studying full time for a longer duration ? I remember that Manipal University had launched a full time 3 year animation course and other short term certificate courses. http://www.thehindu.com/edu/2007/07/...0250240200.htm http://www.mime.manipal.edu If there is any animation course I would recommend... then it would be the one above... But you should conduct your due diligence before enrolling anywhere... |

Hi esmeralda
I agree with brishtie and abhay too... 3/4 months courses are full-day drills with lots of theory dumped on you with new vocabulary, languages, routines, etc to be learnt and very little practice time... and let's say if you are a passionate one at learning... you would need your own PC (perhaps a laptop) with all those softwares installed on it, in order to practice in your off-institution hours, what they shall teach ![]() You can try Vasanth Nagar area as well which is about 3 kms (~2 miles) for PG accommo. Since one of Bangalore's well-known all-girls graduation college, Mount Carmel College is housed in this area, lots of people are running PG's out of this place. Incidentaly, my office is in the same area and I can get you some telephone nos. of PG's where few of my she-colleagues are staying, let know if you need. And if you need any further help, I can IM you my mail / phone no. Hope you have a good stay. |
