shopping in bangalore

Hi,

I am travelling to Bangalore next week for business. I plan to stay there for 1 week to work and then travel on my own in Rajasthan for 1 1/2 week.

I am packing light and want to shop for clothing in Bangalore for the balance of my trip. I want to shop for t shirts, pants and shorts etc. It doesn't have to be brand name, just reasonable quality and price. I like to avoid bargaining.

Looking for any good recommendations in bangalore. I am staying at a hotel on MG road.

Thanks!

Siew

Just search around the site some.

If you scroll to the bottom of this page, you'll find a listing of "similar threads." Opening any of those will again feature a list of similar threads at bottom, and so on and so forth. It's an easy way to navigate the site.

We locals are enjoying a genuine sale at "The Wearhouse", Commercial Street:

1) Wrinkfle free trousers: 300 rupees a pop

2) T-shirts/shirts: 300-350 rupees.

Good quality cotton too!

Thanks for the info everybody!

A colleague of mine mentioned "The big bazaar" as a good place to check out. Is there one in Bangalore close to the MG Road area?

Talking

There's one behind the Forum (a shopping mall in Koramangala). Whilst there, you could yum cha at Chung Wah, the only place in Bangalore for that (4 to 7 pm).

Dang! Why do I always end up with food reccos? Must be in the "genes"!

custom made western style apparel

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA [ as usual ] where the thread is - enquiring about tailored western clothes.
so i'm posting here - hoping whoever it was will somehow find it.

MARIA ROSA bangalore 2528 9819
her daughter runs a boutique at the Leela - they supposedly take orders there as well.

varning:
excellent tailoring = awesome pricing. so...

Yum cha in Bangalore! What a great idea ... I'll really be ready for that by the time I get there -- probably sometime in December!

Any other great food reccos?

There's Chinese food, and then there's Indian Chinese food, now recognised as a distinct cuisine:

You need to know what to order, or else you will end up with the cornflour thickened glop normally dished out to gwei lo. ) .

Mediterranean style, done properly.

There are some high end places. Give us a shout if you're so inclined.

PS Someone from Hong Kong needed a few reccos. My view: he'd be slumming it if he'd proceeded: I know the HK scene.

You come to Bangalore for the elephants and the snakecharmers, not haute cuisine.

Just kidding: the wildlife sanctuaries are great.
