rentals in Bangalore
I was looking through rentals on craigslist for Bangalore - call me crazy but why in god's name would anyone pay an 11 month deposit?! is this common?

I know - I found it crazy too when I moved.
I heard it has something to do with the law - when the person doesn't pay the rent, the landlord can't evict him (or her) before 1 year. This deposit is a security for the landlord. Please somebody correct if I am wrong...  I don't know exactly your requirements, but if you think the deposit it's too much for you to pay, most paying guest/rooms/guesthouses in Bangalore require just 1 month advance or sometimes no advance at all... Even though some of them are most expensive than 2 bedroom apts, depending of course on the locality...  Good Luck !!! |
