pure sandalwood, where to buy?

i am looking to buy a few hundred grams of sandalwood in bangalore, any idead where i can get it? and i want the wood itself, not carvings n stuff.

kinda urgent as i leave tomorrow.

In Chennai you can buy it from Khadi Gramaudyog shop. If there is equivalent in Bangalaore then try it.

There is a limit on how much you can take out of the country, it might be a kilo; the shop people may know. A few hundred grams should be OK.

You can check out in Cauvery Handicrafts in MG Road. You will get sandal wood logs as well along with powder.

Do they sell just simple pieces of the wood? They have very nice carved items, the best I've seen so far, but pure wood? I can't remember.

The kadi (kadhi?) shops here sell pieces of wood. It is used in some rituals.

It is illegal to export more than a very small amount of uncarved sandal wood.

Khadi (Normally refers to hand-spun and hand-woven cloth though; but it might have taken on a broader meaning, of any traditional handicrafts. Or, something else altogether in Tamil?)

I know Mysore should be a good place for sandalwood (-products), should you pass by there. But, Bangalore would probably be fine, as suggested by the responses so far.

Thanks. I don't find an immediate site for them, but a web search for +"Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan" +bangalore (or: +bengaluru) would suggest there is one (or several?) there yes, and will give you directions.

I suppose a search for just +khadi +bangalore might likewise be fruitful; or possibly overwhelming. Maybe try the same with sandalwood.
