Hi,
in a couple of weeks I will arrive in Bangalore and I am looking for an inexpensive but decent place to stay for one night. Usually I don't book ahead but this time I will land at ca. 1 a.m., so I'd rather avoid looking for a hotel in the middle of the night. My plan is to move on to Mysore on the next day.

On the web I found hotel Royal Regency Lodge on Subedar Chatram Road (http://www.royallodge.net/). Anybody stayed there? Is it OK? I don't need anything fancy, just a clean double with en-suite bathroom, in a safe place. Is this area something similar to Paharganj in Delhi?

Perhaps any other recommendations of a handy place for a late night arrival and one night stay?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, If you are arriving at bangalore airport around 1 am. I do not think you require any hotel to stay for that night. Since you are moving to Mysore next day. Airport is around 40 odd km away from the city . It will take you around 1 hour to reach the place which you have mentioned in the link. This place is safe. How will you travel from Bangalore to Mysore ? Bus ? Please let me know these things then I can help you more in finding a place or any other help which you require.

Hi

What is your budget like? Tons of places near the railways station/majestic/main bus stand from where you catch the bus for Mysore.

If you are looking for something better say about 1000 to 1500 then there are many service apartments.

do let me know if you need any help with the service apartments bit.

Cheers

Sunil

You dont really need a place if you can rough it out a bit . If you land at 1 then it would be at least 1.30-2 by the time you emerge out of the airport.

As others pointed out, the Mysore bus station and the City Train station is at least an hour away from the airport so what you can do is to go straight there ( plenty of government run buses) ... and then carry on to Mysore - you can get a snooze enroute ( it takes around 2 hours) and reach Mysore really early in the morning and take up a place there.

Thanks a lot! I thought about roughing it out and going straight to Mysore but decided against it as we will be tired after the flight and in the morning our internal clock will point to the middle of the night So we'd prefer to sleep for few hours and go to Mysore about noon.

My budget is up to approx. 1000 Rs. but preferably less. I have already contacted Hotel Ajantha via their webpage and hope for an answer Hints for any other places are still much welcome

I plan to take a bus to Mysore, as it's most flexible. From where in B'lore do Mysore buses depart now? From earlier posts I had an impression there are some construction works and changes?

Royal Lodge is fine and good value, but you may need to book.
Majestic area is not like PG - less touristy and quite a lot cleaner.

Yeshwantput is in the north of the city and Jayanagar is to the south of the city, a difference of around 18 km, made more hard because of metro construction work around the yeshvantput area. Check out post 9 in this thread for one hotel info in jayanagar. There is also Raja lodge, sorr no info. Better to stay around jayanagar area. Also please avoid SMS language.
