Photoshop Course
Hi there,
I am looking at doing a short Photoshop course in Bangalore. I already use Photoshop so I am looking for Intermediate to Advanced course either full or part time but only for a few weeks or possibly 1 month maximum. Can anyone suggest any training places or multimedia companies that run such courses. I have had a look online but there doesn't seem to be much out there. I have heard of Arena Animation but their course is for beginners and it has already started. I will be moving to JP Nagar so ideally looking at somewhere as close as possible. Thanks everyone, Shareen |

In my oppinion you don't need a course. Photoshop is probably the easiest program to learn. I learned by myself with help from various designer forums
Just do a google search on "advanced photoshop tutorials"

I second that! So easy to use, why waste money on a course?

To me it's like trying to exercise at home... it just doesn't work for me so that is why people go to gyms, or classes, as not everyone is disciplined enough to do it at home. I am not so disciplined hence why I like to be taught in a classroom environment. It also good to get out of the house and meet new people. It's also a good social tool for those here like me who are volunteering and want to meet new people. :-) Thanks!!! |

Yes, good point Shareen. I guess, I was thinking according to me..and as I'm forever on a tight budget, I sometimes forget that for others, that may not be an issue. That is why I wanted to let you know how easy it is to learn Photoshop alone.
All the best with finding an enjoyable course close by :-) |

Oh My God!
Photoshop easy to learn? Maybe, once you get started, but many consider the initial learning curve to be very steep indeed, and I have certainly found it pretty intimidating. A little less, since I started using its free and less overwhelmingly-featured cousin The Gimp. Oh well, I guess there is some reason for it being so enormously expensive! Afterthought... For some very funny instructional videos on Photoshop, if anybody needs such a thing, search YouTube for "You suck at photoshop" |

these multimedia softwares have all one thing in common nick - the more you work on them, the more you can push 'em.
kinda like a meaningful, picturesque relationship however... shareen - got a list from the justdial site. check them out. there should be something in JP Nagar. why dont you club a photoshop session together with an illustrator tutorial. the two are a perfect match. most, if not all pre-press houses use illustrator with photoshop - so there should be tutorials for both. use the 'just dial' site for enquiries on BLR, shareen. they have quite a bit of info there. best of luck on them tutorials ![]() :brishti |

As pixel... had said the very first question is what apecific objective you have in mind for the Photoshop. Yes, you need to answer. Why? any possible alternatives. Better alternatives? So, yes I know you would be aware of - it's for advanced editing of graphics, and that too bit mapped one. Not for vector graphics. and - it almost excels at that.
Now, the Nick_H's suggestion - Correct but tricky one! Yes, I have used Gimp - Open source options for the similar functionality. PS might be better sometime - e.g. HD Photos. Shivani, While I agree that one can start using the PS without any external help, yet I'd humbly say that you can't really exploit it's best potential like this. So, you need proper learning. Of course, that can come from freely available tutorials or paid real time classes. Quality counts fee won't. One needs to make sure, in either case that the instructor is real good in explaining and posseses knowledge of theoretical concept both. As hinted before, a sound understanding of Non-photoshop specific but general theory of computer graphics will really act as catalyst to boost up the using the right approach. Therefore the best recipe would be - Good author+tutorial / instructor +institute (free/paid does not matter so long as quality is good) - Reasonable theoretical knowledge of colors, scales, bit mapping, digital quantization, HGB, HSV etc - Dynamics, color range Gamut, color space etc - Practice (no limits)
