One Day In Bangalore

hi all,
I'll be visiting Bangalore on a business trip next week. I have one day to hang around before i start working 12 hours a day.
pls advise me where i should go.

I'm interested in ancient architecture and history.
option 1: would it be possible to visit Mysore palace..? any body being there? How to get from Bangalore to Mysore? Would i be bale to rely on public transport.

option 2: hang around Bangalore city: advice me on destinations with in the city or close by.
any other options?

Bangalore is fairly a new city planned and built between 1900 - 1950 (if I am right) So there is nothing that can qualify as ancient in the city

The best bet may be a the Bull temple, Lalbagh - botanical garden, the modern ISKON temple, Tipu's summer palace (just a run down bulding - dont let the palace term misguide you), and the MG road - Brigade road walks after the sun down.

I would not suggest the Mysore trip for the traffic conditions and given the fact that you have only 12 hours.

Sudheer, Chaturi has a whole day...sufficient for a trip to Mysore. There are many buses every day between Mysore and Bangalore. Even trains (my choice). You can do it by hired car too and that way, you could visit the Srirangapatnam fort and the Mysore Palace.

Here are some train timings. Both departure at origination and arrival at destination.

Ex Bangalore
6222 Mysore Exp 05.30 am 8:25 AM
6231 MYSORE EXPRESS 06:30 am 9:30 AM
6731 MYSORE EXP 07:00 am 10: 00 AM
214 MYSORE PASS 07:35 am 10:45 AM

Ex-Mysore

213 MYSORE TIRUPATI FAST PASSENGER Passenger 5:00 PM 8:15 PM
6215 Chamundi Express 6:45 PM 9:50 PM
6221 MYSORE CHENNAI EXP Mail/Express 6:05 PM 8:55 PM
233 MYSORE BANGALORE PASSENGER Passenger 6:30 PM 10:10 PM

if you are going to be workign there for a while, sopend the first day learning to get around the city. use subsequent weekends for your weekend getaway trips.

unfortunately i have only one week..next week end i'll be on my way to Hyderabad.
Any way i will be staying very close to the working place and will hardly have time to spend outside office during day time.
I'll arrive in Bangalore on Saturday night and have only Sunday to do what ever i like!
I would love the Mysore trip...if possible. since i don't have much time to spend planning things once i arrive in Bangalore,i would be very grateful for what ever information you can provide.
