I always think if people are grown ups, they can handle a few profanities.

And anyway, what is profanity?

There are plenty of swear words in the Guardian, and yet it seems infinitely less obscene than, say, the Daily Mail, the UK's self-appointed Ministry of Hate.

Tony Blair, Noel Edmonds, Dan Brown – they're all words that are far more offensive to me than ones about arses and genitals.

Quite, sir. Especially Brown. As it is, whatever theology people know is a bunkum and this Brown chap writes stuff that really muddies the water more. In the interest of full disclosure I haven't read any of his books nor do I plan to.

But this is the internet, no one knows you're a dog venturing an opinion that worth the barf on the carpet.

Intolerance is the first sign of old age.
