Will be travelling down to Bangalore at the end of this month and am dying to have good, authentic Italian food.
So far, I've been recommended the following places: (1) i-t.alia, The Park (I heard that it's expensive, though... ) (2) Sunny's Any other suggestions available? Like I mentioned earlier, we're looking for a restaurant that whips up good, authentic Italian food. Preferably one that can do so within a Rs. 700 - Rs. 800 price range. Thanks.

Italian
I hear there is a place called Ai Cavalli on Doddaballapur Rd that is great, but havent tried it...just have been happy going to Italia. You can get a great deal at lunch, 2 course meal (app&meal or meal&dessert) for under 300rp or all 3 courses for 350 or so.
I am never dissapointed at Italia! |

tons of 'em
You should try a small place called 'Herbs and Spices' in Indiranagar. If you want good vegetarian(!) italian food, you should try 'Little Italy' on 100ft Road also in Indiranagar, and another good fusion (with quite a few italian dishes on the menu) restaurant called 100Ft also on (where else) 100ft Road in I'nagar. Try Spiga on Vittal Mallya Road for some really good pasta. Hope this helps!

There's a very good Italian place (run by renowned Italian chef) in Koramangala 5th block (next to Sukh Sagar). Ate there a couple of times. Tastes great. I forgot what the place is called. Maybe someone else here knows?

I think the place you're referring to is called "Fiorano". It's a very good Italian restaurant, and they sell cheese and parma ham as well. Located on 100 ft road 5th 'A' Block, Koramangala |

have to put my two cents where food is concerned.
Little Italy in Indiranagar, and IndiJoe's on Airport Rd., also close to Indira Nagar. Herbs and Spices, a boutique resturant in the bylanes of Indiranagar, but excellent fare. Excellent quiches and the desert here is to die for. There's is Casa Del Sol - really nice place on Resiency Rd., a little expensive, and I thought the portions are too small. Of couse, for a regular everyday bite, there are Casa Picola outlets all over town. There are others like Lazzio and Elements but they are more famous for their steaks rather than their pastas, but nice nevertheless. Thanks for the Fiorano tip, Shanti shanti and Priyamav, I have put it in my next hit list. CHEESE and more CHEESE ![]() |

There's an italian restaurant in the Taj hotel. I haven't checked it out but I met the chef (a very real italian) in the airport. It seems they also have parma ham there. I think lunch is about five hundred he said. Imports his ingredients from italy.
Wouldn't mind a nice pasta now actually... ![]() |

Just found out about this heritage place called The Only Place.
Apparently, the greatest steaks this side of the Suez. And really good pasta and lasagna. Check out the review in http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/mp/200...1200710300.htm Am heading there asap. |

honestly Natasha, I can't believe you haven't heard of it before.
Its on corner of Museum and St Marks Roads. I'm sure I've mentioned it before. Anyway, the best steaks in Bangalore, imo. Better than elements. I always intend choosing something different, pasta or something, but then always stear back to my usual 'supreme chateaubriand' with 2 eggs sunny side up and mashed potatoes. |

Grass hopper's nest
Along the Bannerghatta Road & about 1 km after Meenakshi temple is this place called Grass Hopper's nest. The phone number is 6593999/9845075307.
Call them a day earlier. The food here is just fantastic. Enjoy. |

Oh yes, the only place is indeed a classic in Bangalore. Great steaks, simple setting. And they have been around for quite a while because even my dad remembers eating there (years and years ago).
And Grasshopper is absolutely fantastic. Really really great food, but a bit of an exclusive place: you have to call in advance and they have to kind of know a bit about you before you are invited there. Nice art gallery, beautiful setting. And if you hang around after dinner, they usually make a sort of campfire in the backyard, people gather around, drinking wine or beer....very very nice. By the way, also very nice: the new Sunny's restaurant! And also recommendable: the Vietnamese restaurant at the Taj. Of course, this all has nothing to do with Italian restaurants. But for the gourmands in Bangalore... |

Tried The Only Place over the weekend.
Excellent. Excellent food, good service, and great ambience. The only warning: you can get only too used to hanging around there. ![]() |
