Deeps you're right. The only budget DSLR camera that have image stabilization inbuilt is Pentax K10 and Olympus new model E510 ,both are better than Nikon/Canon feature wise and value for money but of course the latter are popular owing to herd mentality, better after sales support and variety of lenses.
I do not think it is off-topic. Kit lens just acts as filler and honestly nobody takes a 350d purely for kit lens .Having said that, the best work I've seen in any entry level DSLR is by this camera only .I rate it even better than 400d .It is absolute winner for its price and is compatible with almost all lenses in the DSLR market . See a Nikonian is praising Canon but that's how it is. Last edited by whereisvj : Dec 11th, 2007 at 20:29. |

If u take my advice, I would ask you to buy Canon. Coz Canon is far ahead in Digital Tech than Nikon. and its the higest selling brand in the whole world. Its the world leader. So there must be something in it. As I am a photography final year student I would advice you to buy Canon. Its the best. You can try EOS 20D thats a good one. Well, try all the brands of Canon and then post your comment. Good Luck and happy buying......! |

Well , let me seal it .
Both Canon and Nikon are equally good at optics. Canon is most popular among masses , no denying that, but more advance photographers are evenly divided between Nikon and Canon. The real photographers use none of these. They prefer Hasselblad,Mamiya,Linhof,Horse man,Seitz etc. Both these brands tend to leapfrog each other back and forth year after year. With D300 Nikon has become best this year but next year Canon will answer it with a better product . Let me tell you something most people do not know- Both these brands use sony sensor technology in their DSLR's . So it really doesn't matter which one you pick,Look what features you need and what are useless for you.In any case, they say,a camera only relects what you see , but you have to be able to SEE. ![]() Last edited by whereisvj : Dec 11th, 2007 at 21:26. |

Correction - Piyush you're right .Sony makes sensors for Nikon,Pentax,Samsung and others . Iam sure you have made your mind by now. The more you read the more confusing it is . There are millions of reviews ,print and ink that has been wasted over thisfor years , generation after generation, yet there is not a clear cut winner
I took 2 days to decide , I know I miss few things in my Nikon but it is immaterial now and I've decided to buy cheap lenses , I will learn to manually focus it rather than buy an expensive auto focus lens .I was suggesting to save you the trouble . If you think the trouble is worth it . GO for a NIKON D40. Despite of all it lacks , Iam in love with my NIKON D40 , as I already knew what to expect .No hidden surprises. I hope you get yours soon and Happy Clicking ! ![]() |
