There is only one guy who is one stop shop for all your camera needs.I was massively impressed when i met him last week.I went there for a lens cleaning kit .I got my Nikon DSLR from US and he is selling it at same price here. His name is Jayesh mehta and he's cousin of JJ Mehta ,India best online camera shop

See i have a 1 yr US warranty on this .Yes this is with bill but Iam not sure I've a global warranty , need to check .Anyway tripod is not really required except for night shots as it has a inbuilt VR. I didnt even need a tripod at night.Check out some test shots in my gallery. I did lot of low light tests.and 2 gb card comes for 700 rs, So doesn't really makes a difference .I got mine for 19,500 from amazon.

But let me warn you , though this camera appears cheap , it is not actually cheap .Here is how - Once you get a DSLR you'd be tempted to buy lenses and this camera require special expensive lenses with inbuilt motors which are almost 2-3 times more priced than legacy lenses.So if you buy a legacy prime you will have to manually focus them which is a real pain. What good is a DSLR if you can't purchases compatible lenses , which are often more expensive than cost of camera body.Unlike your Point and shoot camera which have an all in one lens , they need lenses for micro ,night shots and zoom as kit lens is not often adequate.check my product review page here but then there are other benefits like speed and image quality.

So my advice is if you do not want to invest in lenses furthur go for an advanced point and shoot , learn the basics.If you think you're passionate , take the plunge

I am already using a Sony H3 point and shoot camera,bought in Singapore.Yes I dont want to buy more lenses ,what I need a good DSLR which can give me excellent pictures.
For 900$ with one year waranty,Nikon D40 is a good choice for me.
Well Canon 350D is also avialable for nearlly same price 930$.

Nobody who buys a DSLR can resist lenses , that is rule of thumb and there are no exceptions to this rule. no matter how hard you try to resist.If you think you can survive with a kit lens the answer is NO and you'll prove me right in 3 months flat .Sony DSC-H1 was the best zoom that came out of Sony factory , then they upgrade it every year to sell products and they take advantage of people mad rush for Megapixels so they increase 1 MP each year and a slew of unnecessary features here and there .I love my DSC-H2 and with it can pretty much do everything that you can with a budget DSLR , even more like making videos .Trust me .

So if you do not plan to invest in lenses then I's suggest you to stick with your product for sometime . There is not much significant difference in image quality , yes DSLR are faster but you need to understand what is the thing you're going for . Read this interesting article that will help clear some doubts

and still you want a DSLR , do not consider extra 30$ . GO for a Canon . You will save 500$ later on lenses. Trust me on that .I went for this because I will upgrade to D300 (about 80,000 rupees) in a year or so and sell this . So a nikon is best way to move to another nikon

buy it without kit lens.......its better that ways.....i m sure there would be a deal for just body only.....

@vijay
I dont think any of Nikon or Canon DSLR has VR or IS built in it.......it comes in lenses for them.....u must have a lens with VR but not camera ......

sony,pentax and olympus have VR built in camera........
