Mahaveer Hotel and Vardhaman Paradise Hotel

Both these hotels are in the vicinity of the bus stand to Mysore, and both advertise a Family Room. So far so good.

However, comments from people who actually know the places, and have either stayed there or at least walked past, are not-so-easily found. There are a couple of positive comments on the Vardhaman Paradise, and virtually nothing on the Mahaveer.

The Mahaveer is able to be booked on-line; this, it seems, is no longer true for the Vardhaman Paradise... pity!

Has anyone any experience of either or both of these hotels? Thanks for your help!

Hi Alan,

I'm not familiar with both these hotels...

However I can recommend Dasprakash Hotel to you.
It's close to bus-stand, and dates back decades.
You can truly experience the charm of the Mysore culture, and the old-world air. The rooms are clean and spacious, and are priced around Rs. 500 - Rs. 800.

They also have a delightful restaurant which the serves the traditional Mysore fare - delicious dosa, fluffy idlies, and aromatic filter coffee...

However, if you're looking for a modern place to stay in, Ginger is the best bet. The rooms are spacious, clean and decorated with a utilarian and moderistic design. They cost around Rs.1000.

Do enjoy your stay at Mysore!

Hi, Breeze!

Thanks for that information, which I will keep in mind for Mysore; however, when I wrote the question I didn't realise that there was only one sub-forum covering Bangalore and Mysore... I put it in "Bangalore", and the reference was to the bus stand (near Bangalore City Station) which was designated for buses going TO Mysore. Now, of course, I realise that the thread is posted where everyone who reads it assumes that I was talking about a bus stand IN Mysore.... there's no mention of Bangalore at all in the actual wording of the question!

Anyway, your answer is still a very useful one for anyone staying in Mysore... I recall reading a thread on another forum about the Ginger, so it looks like this is high on everyone's list of desirable hotels.

Thanks for replying!

As far as I can remember, Mahaveer hotel is right on front of Bus Stand and Vardhaman Paradise is right next to the train station...Vardhaman is much newer and clean than Mahaveer...Mahaveer is nearer to the Majestic Area, but if you stay in Vardhaman you can walk for a few minutes or take a auto (minimum fare) if you have luggage.

Thanks for that info... I will look at Wikimapia and see if I can pinpoint the locations you described. I don't mind the walk for a few minutes..... if the Vardhaman is a better place, then that's a tiny inconvenience.

At any given time I will prefer Ginger Hotel as suggested by Breeze. The best thing about this place is, this hotel lets you to be your own and gives you space. You do your own check in and check out. All automated. If staying near the railway station is not a very important criteria then this is a good option. Ginger located at whitefield near ITPL is around 15 - 17 km or so from the railway station.
