Looking for easy budget hotel in Bangalore to begin adventure.
I'll be flying into Bangalore on Jan 25 to begin a 4 month trip. I've never been to India before, am traveling alone, and intend on using Bangalore for 3 or 4 days to get over my jet lag, buy a cell phone, and get a good, solid start to my adventure. My budget is up to $30/night.
Since my flight arrives at 4AM from Paris I'd really like a pre-arranged car service from the hotel. I'm not fussed about A/C, TV, or decor but internet-equipped computers would be nice. I've seen a few options in my price range but have no idea on the pros and cons of each neighborhood. I'm looking at taking the overnight train to Hospet as my next stop to check out Hampi. I'm hoping someone here can recommend me either a hotel or a neighborhood to look into. Thanks. Last edited by machadinha : Dec 29th, 2006 at 09:08. Reason: moved to bangalore forum |

Since you've not mentioned your approximate room rentals you're willing to foot, I'd suggest a few hotels along MG Road & Residency roads. Most would be without Internet Access. A Prepaid counter Gov. run Taxi from the Airport would cost you approximately 250-300 Rs to the above place.

As DD suggested, pre-;aid taxis are available 24hours. Its a hassle free experience. Just make sure you pay for it before you leave the airport.
Also, traffic in bangalore is HORRENDOUS. Again DD has suggested centrally located areas which will put you within walking distance of most amenties/entertainment -- but it will be a little more pricey than places that are off the beaten path. hotel rooms in Bangalore are booked sold. Make your bookings before you arrive and confirm that the lobby will be open when you arrive early in the morning. Although I've never used it myself you could try http://www.bangalorebest.com/Accomodation/ecohotels.asp and focus on the hotels listed with an address of "Bangalore -1" (zip/pin=560001) |

I'm thinking $20-$30 USD per night for a single. I've seen a few hotels in that area suggested here and in my guide books in that range. Thanks for the advice.

If I was you, I'd just try and book through orbitz or some similar site. It can really be quite a task running around trying to find accommodation in a city that has a shortage.
