Let's form a trekking and adventure group in Bangalore
I was working for a corporate major for few years, and since the lifestyle was very hectic,I could not manage to go around Bangalore, though I have been on some trips with my brother to nearby places.
Now that his MBA sessions have started, and most of my friends are busy with their daily chores,I was wondering if we indiamike members with similar passion for travel form a group and start trekking to places or have fun in jungles or indulge in some adventures. This is just an idea,if anyone is interested we can form a group.
Meanwhile,I am planning to go to Manali from delhi for 9 days from 21st April and try some sport like paragliding, skiing, trekking and rafting and stay in camps, but not finding a travel companion.I do not want to cancel my trip, hoping some positive replies on this forum.

Hello Ankita, Welcome to Indiamike. I welcome your idea to create a form a group. Before that you can check for similar threads in Karnataka/bangalore threads. I saw a similar requests 2 weeks back. I will follow this thread and join you after 2 months as my calender is booked till end of June. For a travel companion for Manali trip you can post the request in Himachal Pradesh forum and you will find a companion very soon. All the best for your trip. Keep posting.

Nice idea, would like to join the group for trips in south india.
Ankita, You don't need any travel companion for Manali. You can do the mentioned activities without a companion. I did all by myself. Paragliding from Rothang Pass down to helipad for around 1hr. Did rafting in River Beas for 15 miles. Ask the hotel staff for info. They will help you. I want to camp at Great Himalayan National Park which I might go this fall.
Well, going solo is very personal decision

My son just went with his office. Had a blast!
Pros
New rafts, Zodiacs.
Army instructors constantly checking activities and equipment.
New obstacle course with fun netting added.
Season just right: river is not swollen.
Cons
Veg. Buffet (no other restaurant. Booking advised!)
Because the water is clean and slowflowing, the operators allow you to jump in, fishing you out after 1 km. My son's group opted to float down half the trip, 5 kilometres!

Had to rescue one group of trekkers and group with them on our last trek to Mullayanagiri in a storm, was one hell of a night. But later had to be rescued by Neeraj Malve of BMC, it was fun night, i didnt see any great equipment / safety gear suggest you can do it on your own at your own pace.

I have 2 tents / 3 sleeping bags
Trekking gear lying around in the house not being used for quiet some time, waiting for a monsoon trek so badly.
So if anyone plans for a 2 day weekend trek, im game.
Monsoon trek can be done away from the western ghats which would be washed with rains.
i would suggest the following, with a guide from the forest department .
- Bedaguli to Jodigere to Bylore - BRT, Chamarajanagar
- BRT to Chenni halla - BRT, Chamarajanagar
- M.M. Hills to Naaga Male - Kollegal
- Bheemeshwari to Chellurehill - Kanakapura
- Elephant camp to Muthati - Kanakapura
- Yerekem halla to Gopinatham - Kanakapura

Let me know what you guys think, somebody could make a mailing list .
