Very helpful info but is it worth taking these trips with KSTDC buses? In Hampi I did the day tour from Hampi with them and all the guide was telling was "This is a dead city, dead temple" for describing whatever we saw and wherever we went all around the place!!! HAHAHA!!! The next day we did the same trip on our own with an auto rickshaw for less than half the price and had a better time seeing the places at our own leisure. But it was like an introductory eye opener for us before we set out on our own so kind of helpful in showing us where to spend more time and where to skip if at all required.

Cheers,
Aadil.

It's a personal choice.
I would always travel at my own pace.
Conducted tours don't work for me.
But for some people, it's convenient.
If you only have a few days to spare,
or don't have too much contacts,
or have a limited budget,
conducted tours are a good bet.
From the few people I know who have taken the tours,
I have heard that they are very decent.

Yes, that is very true. I also don't like any organised tour usually but this one in Hampi was something that we thought was worth it because it involved going to a lot of places in one day and for the price it seemed cheap enough too with a free hotel room for resting inbetween for about an hour during the lunch break (Which we were not told about when joining the trip!!! What a pleasant surprise!!!) and still enough time for seeing the best parts of Hampi on our own as we left the tour at the last stop and walked it back along the river to the hotel. Fantastic place and we stayed four days to take it all in and I will surely be going back for more, though not with the conducted tour!!! HAHAHA!!!

Thanks for all the latest info anyway as it is very helpful to decide some cases where you may want to join in when other public transport is not easily available or expensive to go on your own by a privately hired vehicle.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Prices of KSTRC are higher compared to private operators. and the accomodation provided by them is poor..

I havent recived any first hand good reviews from anyone abt it.

Getting good service from private tour operators is like a lottery.. I you are lucky you might get good service.. but KSTDC has a standard.. and it wont be very luxurient but it wont go down as well.
I have taken one KSTDC trip to Hampi.. and it was good.. the rooms they provided were good and the tour was also not bad and the bus was also good.

I've done the HBS tour with them.

Sure, it might be a little rushed, but if you only have 1 day to see these 3 sites then its certainly good enough.
