Those are a sweeping set of questions.

One can get a peaceful sort of life on the outskirts of any big city, including Bangalore. Good schools in most cities, and many outside cities too. Foreigners are not unsafe in most cities but they may find some cities have more hassle.

The big thing is 'start a business'. You need to determine what business first off. And, if you haven't been to India recenty, you need to spend a few months here.

Visa issues? NRI, PIO, OCI?

There are other threads on starting a business in India.

Reminds me of the story of the travellers, which goes something like this...

An old man sits outside the gates of a city. He has seen many things in his life, and is often asked for help or information, which he willingly gives.

One day, a traveller asks; "What is this city like? Will I find honest and good people here?".

The old man asks, "What was it like in your last city?"

The traveller replies, "It was like heaven; the people were kind and generous and honest; doing business there was like a dream."

The old man replies, "You will find the same here."

Another day, another traveller asks, "What is this city like? Will I find honest and good people here?".

The old man replies, "What was it like in your last city?"

"Terrible", says the traveller, "I had to watch my back every minute of the day; a city of thieves and scoundrels".

The old man replies, "You will find the same here."

I am sorry about your last business venture.

But, I am very happy that you are not discouraged and you are again bouncing back to start your own business in India.

Do let us know what kind of a business have you finalized. We can suggest you based on that.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Actually i was importing Toothbrush and Gloves from China and selling it in Russia. But there is not any future in India for these products. One of my Schooi friend advised me to import the Battery for UPS in India. One offer is to start a factory for UPVC window. So i am looking all the Advise.

UPVC windows are a blooming business in India now.

So my understanding is that, you will manufacture UPVC windows and supply them all over India, Am I right.

What kind of Raw materials will your procure ? The reason I am asking you this is that you require good road / rail connection to get supplied of raw materials.

Your target will be wholesale suppliers for this UPVC windows.

If my understanding is right, Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore) is the right place for setting up a manufacturing unit. Outskirts of Bangalore may be the right place for you to start your business.

I am not sure, if you want to stay close to the factory or you alone dont mind traveling, so that the kids can stay close to their school. Let me know...

You should try importing capital letters; I am sure you will not be cheated there.

Good luck with your venture, and good luck with finding a good partner.

You should do well. The market is presently a monopoly, with the rates quoted close to teak. Many opt for the product to avoid delay and underperformance from teak workers.

You should minimize start up period and import all your jigs and fixtures, as vendor development is a tough slog, and you need to maximize profit from the get go, by making and selling FAST. The infrastructure support from the government is weak (they pretty much have become irrelevant in that area) so factor in in-house power, water and transport facilities.

The good thing is that most problems can be solved by throwing resources at it. Which is more than I can say about Kerala, where even love of money can’t get things done. Brilliant for holidaying though.

@Nick-H
First post, truism, and very funny at that! Too bad it came across to the TS as taking the mickey!

Hi,

Bangalore, the state capital of Karnataka is the only answer to all your questions. This new cosmopolitan South-India is famous for its pleasant weather and high living standard.
