How to change a residence visa to an employment visa!

Hello,

We moved to Bangalore a few weeks ago. My husband has a residence visa based on my employment visa (states that 'wife is employed by xxxxx).

Does anyone know if it's possible to change his visa to an employment visa, should he find a job, and how this is done?

Heard some rumours that you might have to go back to your country of origin....

Heard the same "rumours" too, I'm afraid. I think they are particularly hard on employment visas and, should you find a job, he would have to return to London to get the visa.

It would seem common sense that, where a person is already resident in India, that it could be done here. He can always try --- but I think they will say no.
