Hotel Grand Magrath

I am traveling to India with my family and will be in Bangalore in Jan of 2008 for 3 nights and we booked Hotel Grand Magrath per our friend who lives in Bangalore..it looks really nice.. about $155 a night with breakfast included.

1. Is this a Hotel that is close to the Airport as well as central Bangalore?

2. How much should we expect to pay a Batta for hire to take us around to see some sights?

3. We have heard a lot about Leela palace..If we go to lunch, Is the attire business casual?

1. It's bang in the middle of Central Bangalore and it is close to the airport too. However at peak hour it might take 40 minutes to get to the airport.

2. If you are going out of the city then read this: Taxi fare from Bangalore to places out of Bangalore.
For travel within the city and if you are using radio cabs, you will have to pay the meter fare and waiting charges. You can find out the charges when you call for the cab. If the taxi driver is good then a tip of maybe Rs.50 or 100 won't hurt. If it's a taxi from the hotel then negotiate based on the above link. I can also recommend a taxi service, which I recommended to another IMer who was very happy with the service. If you want his number and rates then PM me. Disclaimer: I have no business interests with him and actually haven't even met him. He was recommended by a mutual friend.

3. I don't know but even casual should be fine; better to call and find out.

Late, i know.. but i always stay at Grand Magrath when in BLR, i really like the place, and as someone said, it's bang in the middle of blr..
