High rise apartments in Blore?

Hi all,

I´m a German in his late twenties and very likely will move to B´lore within the next couple of months... Sent by boss, you know..

Just been there recently and really looking forward and I´d actually really love stayin there a couple of years...

Still, I have a question to you people living there already: Are there any high rise towers with nice apartments right in the heart of the town? (would like to live close to the "scene", in walking distance...)
I would really like to find something like 20 floors or whatever, the more the better...

As I read here and found out too, searching online isnt really succesfull. I will spend my first x- months in hotels until I find something, I like. So no hurry... just curious.

Anyway, compliments to all the IMérs as I think this is the only really active India-forum...

they exist but the ones in the centre cost a lot to rent. my expat friends are paying rs130000 per month for a penthouse flat with rooftop garden in fraser town. will your boss foot the bill or you?

Yes, I´ll have my housing allowance, but 130k is quite a lot

didn´t want to spent so much actually... maybe half as a max..?
But on the other hand, rooftop garden sound absolutely great...!!!

Well, seriously, I won´t spend that much. Actually I´d prefer the say 30-50 k range... Not enough?

30k-50k is plenty, you're bound to find something good for that much. my sister has a new flat to rent out but it's on the fourth floor (not high enough for you). also, it's not so central (marthahalli area). anyway, there are more flats than tenants these days in bangalore - so many buildings have come up recently. almost as many as the trees they have cut down in the city (in 2008, nearly 1000)!

You wont find many 20 storey+ apartments in Bangalore, esp close to the center like you are asking.

I am not sure how correct I am, but there is a restriction within city limits to put up such huge pvt structures (this is what I have heard).

In Bangalore, you do find decent furnished (decent is a wrong word here, I should say, good) accomodation for 50k. Just keep looking out. Do not fall for any online offers.

Pity they don´t build higher, but thats exactly the reason why I posted here.. It was pretty much my impression when I was in bangalore, so i thought, I might have seen the wrong places only...

I remember when I had dinner once in a 13th floor restaurant (I believe theres a disco with this name : 13th floor or so...) in the same building, but sitting on its terrace, I saw maybe 2 or 3 high towers...

Well, doesn´t matter too much. Will look for a nice place when I´m there... My stay just got confirmed so I´ll arrive in bangalore in November

If anyone got some info regarding apartments, might be furnished, please post;-)
