I doubt if you'll be able to make to the station from Airport.

There might be some delay in the flight due to rains, also, checking out might take some more time. Also, Airport is pretty far from the city. So yeah there is no way you'll be able to make it. If you do It'll be miracle

All I would say is forget catching the train that night. bangalore airport is located in the outskirts of the city and it is during peak hours.

Unless you reach bangalore by max 5 p.m., you will not be able to catch the train.

hopefully your ETA [expected time of arrival] will be as scheduled.
make sure you do not have checked in baggage flying into BLR... baggage claim incurs valuable time, lost.
being a sunday evening - you should make it to the city station in time to catch your connecting train.

Very Tough to reach Bangalore City Station by 9:00 PM if you leave the airport at 7:00 PM. You might just make it

If you have advance reservation though you can catch that train at Bangalore Cantonment Station rather than go all the way to Bangalore City Station

Delhiwala, are you sure you can make it in 45 minutes during peak hours on a working day. The new airport is almost 40 kms away from the town. I think even catching the 9 p.m. train from Bangalore city is too tight considering flight lands sharp at 7.00 p.m. and the OP takes a cab to the station. If you dont have hand baggage, yes, changes are better (not good).

Hold on ! The Kanyakumari exps is at 2145 hrs from SBC and 2200 hrs from Cantontment. So, if your flight arrives exactly on time at 7 P.M., you can catch the train atleast at cantontment station. Check the train timings..
From your post, the difference is 45 minutes which is 2700 valuable seconds. Your entire situation changes. But the pre-requisites are :

1) The flight should reach on time
2) Baggage handling should be fast
3) Roads should not very congested.

You can catch the train at Cantontment.

I made it in 45 minutes with airlift taxi service on a Saturday afternoon from Banshankari! There was usual rush on the streets of course not like peak office hours.

Had it not been so and time permitting, I guess staying the night & proceeding the next day would have been an obvious solution

Boss, you had quoted one hour late for the flight arrival and one hour early for the train departure - squeezed it too much. In a normal day, you can surely make it to the station.
