Hi Mike,

I just wanted to weigh in on rent and utility costs to give you an idea of what to expect. We pay 16,000 Rs for a 3 bedroom 2 bath FURNISHED bungalow. And when I say furnished, I mean everything: sheets, flatware, pots, pans, TV, washer, everything. We live in a different area than you are looking at but I would guess that you might expect to pay about the same. Our monthly cable TV bill is Rs 250, our average electric bill per month runs us about 500 Rs and our water bill is around Rs 100 monthly.

A note on furnished vs. unfurnished that was a surprise to us when we began looking for apartments, unfurnished apartments will not usually have a refrigerator, stove-top or any other appliance that might be considered standard in the US so you might want to seriously consider renting a furnished one since it will be short-term.

Hey Suzi!
Where did you find the bungalow offer? Was it online?

Hi SweSwamy,

Once we arrived in Bangalore we hooked up with a friend who helped us look around and put us in touch with a realtor. I guess we lucked out, we love the place and the owners are lovely and very helpful people. We tried looking on-line before actually coming but we found that everything seemed a little dodgy so we just weren't comfortable committing to something sight unseen.

Hi starbright / Mike B

I think you should find the place confrortable. There should not be much problem with purchasing to things and groceries as most of the shopes are open till 8.00 AM - 9.00 PM so i dont think it should be a problem. (Not like UK where i found the shops and rest of the plcaes use to close off by 5.30 PM )

As for the staying is concidered i think if you can let us know the address. Think can give you more clear picture.

Mike if you can let me know which organisation you would be working for or there website...then it would be more great.

If you would like to know more informantion pls let us know. I am sure to meet you up as i would love to know more about camera handeling and photography.

Rudy

yeah, unlike the big 4 cities of India, there is no one day each week that the stores are closed for the whole city- or neighborhood, in the case of Delhi.
