I think there is a thread on a similar topic you may want to take a look at. Remember that this isn't like taking an aspiren. You may need follow up treatment and there is a failure rate possibly requiring another operation. My friend's result one perfect eye and not so on a later eye..

You may want to scroll to the bottom of this page, where you'll find a listing of "similar threads." Opening any of those and scrolling to the bottom will lead to more similar threads, etc. ad infinitum (well, almost).

It's been covered before yes, there's one good thread but I wouldn't know where to find it just like that. Try searching for LASIK, which is an acronym for one method.

I agree it's not peanuts and shouldn't be undertaken lightly; my eyesight isn't very good but I would still think a whole lotta times about it. Last time I checked long-term effects were still uncertain, for instance, although I'm sure there are rapid developments in the field. The thing is having bad eyesight makes you even more aware of what having no eyesight at all would be like, I guess.

My optician/eye surgeon put me off: he told me: the failure rate may be low, but what if it is you?

He told me it was absolutely not necessary, and he could not recommend it for me. I'd gone to him for an independent opinion before asking one of the hospitals.

The guy is a surgeon, not just an optician, so I guess he does recommend it for people if he thinks it is necessary, or sufficiently beneficial...

By the way what side effects?

Any one knows about the side effects of lasik surgery? Can it create un-recoverable problems to eye?

Have it done where you live

Maya

As someone who had Lasik and had some problems, my advice would be to have your surgery wherever you live permanently. So if you live in Bangalore, get it done in Bangalore, and if you live in Germany, get it done in Germany.

I had some issues and continued to see my surgeon for a year, after which we jointly decided that he would retreat one eye. Although it took a long time to get right, I am now (three years later) still delighted with the end result. But I certainly wouldn't have wanted to swap surgeons in the middle of everything, or have to fly thousands of miles to go back. This is one area where I would not to want to economise or compromise in any way.

BTW - if you live in the South of England, I would highly recommmend Grange Eye Consultants. You only find out how good someone is if there are issues & I found out just how good Rob Morris is!

You are right, it does make sense.
