This is a bit of a long shot but here goes ...
I met, in Amarkantak (MP) in about 95/96, an Indian man called Yadav. He lived in an ashram and hung around with whichever Westerners were passing through. Nice guy. Anyway he had previously lived in Hampi and knew lots of long-term foreigners who used to hang around there (for example my husband had met an Irish old-hippy guy on a train in about 89/90 who lived at hampi and Yadav was able to tell us that sadly he had been killed by a bus in Bangalore) Anyway what I'm getting at is that Yadav has connections ... Now I remember being told fairly recently (in the last couple of years)that he was back living in Hampi. So if anyone here is in Hampi (or Amarkantak)and is in touch with Yadav, he might be a good person to ask because there's a good chance he'd know or at least have heard about any hippy-type foreigners living in that area.

Best wishes with your search

Julia

Welcome back....

Welcome back DH - lots of us have been thinking about you whilst you've not been online.

I have travelled to Bangalore pretty regularly on short business trips over the last couple of years. There is a huge expat community in Bangalore, mainly working in IT. Whilst it sounds from all I've read as if Dale would not be a part of this particular community, it may be worth trying to track down a friendly expat to do some asking around, or joining one or two of their forums (perhaps a little different in normal focus than IM!!!). And if Dale is that tall he would stand out like any big non-Asian would if you saw him more than once, which may help.

Good luck with the search, and hope your daughter also starts to make good progress.

I was going to say that the IT ex-pat community would be unlikely to include DH's dad.

Then I remembered myself and so many friends; once long-haired freaks, then lawyers, accountants, IT managers .

I'm over it

O.K. I'm happy again. The music isn't dead yet. The party can be found. And, best of all, Mr. Hunter is back with an update on his search. It's pretty cool, DH, that you have a following. I don't know how many of us there are, exactly, but we, your fans, have been waiting for any news, any new leads. Some of us actually know, or at least we once knew, the man that you are seeking. That makes it even more exciting. I would like to say hello to Dale again. I'm curious how he's getting along these days, and how he's gotten along all these years in and around India, when almost all of us who were around back then have returned to our native continents. I've never been to Bangalore but, from what I'm reading on these pages, it has a lot of IT type of business going on. I know that when my close relatives call for support when they have pc problems, they most often get connected to someone in India. Is Bangalore the likely city that the support person is located? It sounds like it to me. If that's the case, it makes sense to me that Dale might be there. So good luck, DH, and keep us posted.

I have been watching this post since November and am waiting to see what happens. I do have relatives in Bangalore but I have no idea what contact they may or may not have with ex-pat community, though they have lived there for 20 years or so. Wishing you best of luck and waiting to see what happens next.

Try asking Hiroon, owner of "The Only Place" restaurant on Museum Rd in Bangalore- absolutely everyone who went thru BLR in the 60's and 70's stopped in.
